I keep seeing all over that people like using waffle weave type towels for a waterless wash but I do not quite understand why. I currently use a Chinchilla MF Towel and I like it because it makes me feel like the dust goes deep into the nap. Wouldn't a waffle weave keep it closer to the surface increasing the chance of scratching?

I like waffle weave on glass, but that's about it. Never been comfortable with it on paint.
For waterless, I like 350-450 range best. Anything thicker is just too thick for my liking.
Got a dozen Chinchillas, but I use them on the wheels. Its thick nap is great for that purpose; protects my hand from cuts & gets into nooks & crevices.

A waffle weave is used to dry a rinseless wash method. Waterless does not use waffle to my knowledge.
