Can bare bones undercarriage spray be diluted? If so, with what, and does anyone do this? Thanks fellow OCDers.

Not sure that it's water based. I know the Adams one is not. I would guess it's not. Take a tiny bit and put it in another container with some water and see if it separates.

Firstly, welcome to the forum as this is your first post!
Secondly, although I've never used it, ive heard Bare Bones is very oily, meaning it most likely will not dilute with water. The above mentioned test will verify though!

Bare Bones is solvent based and will not cut with water.

If your looking for a wheel well dressing that can be diluted 4:1....
Meguiars D170 Hyper Dressing

A gallon of this will last you. Not to mention just spray and walk away. Leaves a perfect no drip sheen.

Barebones will dry out and discolor your plastic with repeated use and make it look like crap. That is another CG product that I sent to the landfill.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I'll be trying some Hyper dressing. Now what to do with my bottle of bare bones.

I have been using Bare Bones for years (7+) and never experienced discoloring.

i don't like to use solvent based dressings in wheels wells and even on tires as well. use a water based dressing like hyper dressing as mentioned and another good one (personal favorite) is PERL...

Im just trying to keep my 2016 tacoma looking new. If i could use one product for wheelwells and tires that would be perfect.

CarPro Perl.

Tires dilute 1:1
Undercarriage/Wheel Wells: 3:1 (3 parts water:1 part Perl)

You can try different dilution ratio's - the one's I listed above are what I use.

How long does the tire shine last? Do you apply it with sponge/pad to the tires?

I was planning on using this on plastic trim like the stepbars and trim that goes around my truck bed. Do you use a regular spray bottle from home depot to apply it to trim?

I apply PERL diluted 1:1 to the tires with a Flex Foam Tire Dressing Applicator and then use a Swissvax Pneu Tire Brush. I spray it directly on the applicator - actually place the sprayer right on the pad and spray in lines down the foam so it doesn't get all over.

I recommend Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant (WETS) for the trim around the truck bed and any other exterior trim. I apply it with a foam paint brush and wipe with a MF towel to even it out and remove any excess product. WETS will last a lot longer and looks really good.

If you put anything on the running board trim it will make them slippery.
