Maybe it's just me but do you have to agitate iron x for it to work properly? I would think that agitating the iron x with a sponge would just rub the now loosened iron particles around scratching the paint. I don't plan on ever using a sponge on my paint.

I initially thought the same thing, but after the 1st time I used an iron decon product on my paint and decided not to agitate it before rinsing it off I felt like I didn't get the full potential out of it as soon as the water hit the panel. I guess it may have been how it seemed to take a bit more than usual to rinse away or something to that effect.. But I immediately thought I should've went over it at least gently with a mitt to get the full potential out of it.

The 2nd time I used it [this past weekend] I did gently go over the paint with a mitt and it felt like the better way.. Similar to what it'd be like if you chose to agitate the wheels or simply rinse the cleaner off, but different. You'll see..

And yea why even consider using a sponge? Use a mitt, you don't have to go full strength on the scrubbing, just enough to work the lather around, then rinse it clean.

How you use Iron X depends on the condition of the paint and what you're going to do to the paint AFTER you wash the car.

If you're using Iron X before you're doing major correction work then see this article,

op it's more of a gentle touch with a mitt in places that need agitation.

And x2 on not using a sponge

Mike

While I don't like the word, I always "agitate" with a MF sponge. I don't rub the product into the paint. I simply "evenly spread" the product across the surface.

Mike this would be on a New truck which has not been prepped by the dealer detail department.
At this point I plan on foaming and washing, decontaminating, claying, sealing and topping with fusion but not polishing until spring time most likely.

After letting the product sit and do it's job but prior to rinsing I use a soapy MF Rag to wipe the product around a bit just lightly. once done I let it sit for another minute and rinse. I usually do the car in sections.

Wash and blow dry the car first, then apply iron X and use a damp MF cloth the spread evenly... Leave then re wash off.. Not complicated...

If you are going to be polishing the car this method is so effective.wash first then one panel at a time spray ironx and clay.It gets the surface decon free fast and effective.

Yeah, same as other repliers, I would just MF or mitt to "agitate" around. One thing you dont have to worry is that you will not be scratching loosened metal over the paint, because what Ironx does is to melt the metal particles, when it is still in purple color, it means that the metal is still in liquid form, very unlikely it will scratch the paint, but don't agitate heavily if the color turns brown again because it has returned to its solid form, but much tinier.
