Has anyone put McKees paint coating? If so did you have any issues? Did it bead/sheet nicely? I think I remember someone saying they didn't play nice together but can't find the thread so wanted to ask. I've been using PBL coating over it and it works great but like how McKees goes on better.

I remember reading a post recently saying durability was less than a year (9 mos IIRC) using mckees over essence. In fact I've seen a couple of posts recently with using different coatings over essence where the longevity was way less than advertised. I'm thinking there is some bonding issues going on there. But Mckees is relatively inexpensive so it would be easy enough to just reapply.

I would be excited to see some pics. Might want to drive down to the warehouse and pic some up to try.

Eldorado2k would be the one to chime in on this as he had issues with both together.

I think I might do a side by side this week on the hood of my car. , Now I'm curious

I use Essence as my base coat prior to using McKee's Paint Coating and have seen no issues. I did my wife's van over the summer and it's still going strong.

This is beading on a van that's not been washed for over a week too. It's going to be warm this week so I may break out the hose and wash it with Gold Class vs Rinseless just to flush out all the crevices and under the wheel wells, etc. I can video how it will sheet water to compare it when it was first done.

yeah id love to see a video, like I said I think im going to go ahead and do the side by side as well and see how they differ

i got about 9months of the essence. mck37 coating. reload. combo.

the top panels above the body side molding are still beading well but bottom half is all dead

thread is over on autopia. on mobile right now or i would link it

Is McKees a sio2? If it is then the bonding will be fine, if its something else it may not be.

Well here it is essence used on the hood, wiped off but with no cure time after wipe off. PBL is on the left and McKee's paint coating on the right. They look identical to me, it's been raining all night and just stopped, thinking of maybe getting a video ones it starts to pour again to see it sheet. While I like them McKees more because it's so much easier to apply. I'm really thinking of just sticking to a sealant. It was still nice to see they applied to essence so easily and without any extra steps.

It's been raining none stop in SoCal and I made a 500 mile trip to the bay. None stop rain and tons of 18 wheeler overspray and the the side of my car are gone. I don't even know what products are on the sides of my car now as I put any and everything on this car. But the hood is doing well, things look great and it's holding up well. Granted not alot of time has passed but I figured showing pics when I remember is better then nothingView attachment 55148View attachment 55149View attachment 55150
