Hello! I'm brand new around here and just bought my first car. Sadly the previous owner did a pretty poor job of taking car if he clearcost! Lots of scratches!

Here's some pics to show you guys what I'm talking about. 2006 Honda Accord Coupe V6
Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet (http://m.imgur.com/ZmSwqa1,J2xJAOL,7aTuMqk,Q3WE84f,kc07bB4,z74lAf3)

Those are all before pics. I've removed literally everythin, here was my process!
Wash
Dry
Soak 3000 and 5000 grit sandpaper
Soak area
Sand with 3
Sand with 5 to remove sanding scratches
Compound
Polish
Wax
Done!

My only concern is I've been scaring myself shitless about how wet sanding can cause issues with clear and oxidation. This car is my new daily driver and only has 40k miles on it. Previous owner had it garage kept.

I didn't go through the clear at all, amazingly... I'm just curious, will wetsanding cause oxidation or clear-coat failure down the road?

The answers to your questions are,
IMO, difficult to accurately predict.

However, it's a fact that the CC
has been thinned out some.
But...by how much?

Were any before/after paint correction
paint-thickness measurements taken?

Bob
well I only spent about 5 seconds with 3000 grit using light pressure and 8 seconds with 5000 gritusing the same pressure. No paint measurements were made sadly as I couldn't get ahold of a PTG. The paint hasn't been touched since and was sealed with wax.

There is a certain amount of expected
service-life from any OEM's factory
BC/CC paint system.

Sometimes that amount is lessened by
the paint not being properly cared for
(washing/waxing); overexposure to UV;
and the reduction of the CC's thickness
via abrasive processes (compounding,
polishing), to name a few.

•As for your vehicle's ~11 years old paint
system, now in its current "condition"?
-IMO: only time will tell-the-tale of how
much it has truly been compromised.
