What are your “go to,” most used products during detailing?

I recently discovered there are thousands of products to choose from for each step in detailing from soaps to carpet cleaners. Instead of asking the dreaded “best” products, I am looking to see what you (professional or hobbiest) reach for/constantly have on hand.

I’ve been out of the detailing word for some time and was surprised by the amount of options that are available now. So I would like to know what has worked for you time and time again.

I know sometimes the condition affects your product selection for example heavily scratched exterior to heavily stained carpets. So if you mainly do paint corrections, what AIO do you reach for, or perhaps your favorite 2-step. Maybe you have a favorite leather care regime, favorite drying towel, engine bay degreaser/cleaner, etc. Looking to learn, cause things have definitely changed.

I plan on getting back into detailing and would love input seeing that I will be making a large order in the next couple weeks from the AG store for pretty much everything I would need. Looking forward to hearing from you guys and your learning from those with more experience.

subscribed - I too have been away for a few years. Surely I had and still have my favorites but I'll save my opinions and let folks chime in. This is a common ask so I'm sure there are plenty of discussions about this.

Why do you choose flat pads over say hydro, or waffle style?

Constant full contact, and performance.

I will admit I'm just a hobbiest, and have never worked other pads with any true consistency, but the flats work extremely well for me, and I'm a "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" kind of guy.

I can as looking into the PFM and was curious how it stood up to others. I’ve also read about McKee’s rejuvenator and was hoping to compare it to BLACKFIRE.

I like the way you broke this down. Do you have any “go to” products for interior?

Does anyone use sealant or coatings? Extremely new to coatings and kind of curious as to why dealers would not offer them on new vehicles, assuming they work like they should.

Meguiars Gold Class Wash, Chenille wash mitt, McKee's Turbo Dryer, Zap Cloth glass towel, Blackfire Interior Cleaner, 303 Vinyl Protectant, Meguiars Quick Interior Detailer, Simple Green 1:1, Barrett Jackson Tire Shine, wooden stool that I made for my grandfather in 1980. It is perfect for sitting and cleaning tires and wheel wells. Fluid Film for undercarriage.

Simple green like the small carpet cleaner or just the solution?

Just the solution Hudson. I keep it in a spray bottle and I spray it on my tires, rims and wheel wells. Then I scrub with a handled brush and it cleans without harsh chemicals.

I used the Rupes stuff (Mini/Duetto, Polishes, Pads) a lot this summer, and recently have been using Menzerna and Duragloss more with the PC. I tend to save these products for more high end situations. My PC/Meguiar's is my "utility" set up.

What's listed above is my default.
