So Im almost out of Meguiars D103 and looking to see whtas new out there. I need something that can work on leather without issues but also be used on engines, wheels and if need paint. Suggestions?

Looks like D101 has optical brighteners, but Im not into that. Just looking for a straight APC.

What exactly do optical brightners do? I’ve gone through several gallons of D101 and never known heard of them.

Hell if I know, I just want a cleaner. It says they have them, so I brought it up.

I've been using McKee's 37 Hi-Intensity All Purpose Cleaner Plus diluted 4:1. I bought 2 gallons on a BOGO and have been using it for everything on the vehicles and around the house.

Meguiars D101 is one of the best cleaners I have used but I also like Blackfire BF-450 and even Simple Green. Diluted Simple Green is a safe, pH neutral cleaner. You may want to consider Meguiars D103 if they still make it.

I think he means why are you worried about optical brighteners?
I have been using it for over 5 years too and love it. Never noticed any problems. I would bet its just verbage to make it sound cool.

So where did you see that cause I just looked at Meguiars site and dont see that.
Meguiar's(R) D101 Detailer All Purpose Cleaner, 1 Gallon

This is right from their MSDS, I dont know if any of these constitute a brighter

They brighten the optics. I'm surprised that you didn't know that.

Happy Thanksgiving Bro.

CarPro Multi X might be an option if you are looking to try something different. Seems to check most of the boxes as an APC. Optimum Power Clean could be another one.

I know Optimum Power Clean is safe on leather. But the last time I bought CARPRO Multi X, I thought the label said it is not recommended on leather.

The following products aren’t part of the
overly crowded: ‘what’s new out there’
APCs; just a couple of products that work.

Either:
1.) “Go Orange” with P21S Total Auto
Wash (TAW)

Or:
2.) Go with Meguiar’s D101

•RE: “Optical Brighteners” (“OBs”):
-Unless you plan on drinking a potion made
from D101...(or potions from other products
containing “OBs”)...Optical Brighteners, in and
of themselves, are not dreadful ingredients to be
included in cleaners—automotive, or otherwise.

-And IMO: they’re way better at making surfaces
appear cleaner, than the old-school blueing-agents
used to do—or at least tried to do.

Good call. I just checked my bottle. I use Inside at 1:1 or Meguiar’s D181 for leather and Multi X for exterior.

Sandro from Car Craft Detailing used Multi X on leather in one of his videos. Seemed to work fine.

Meguiar’s is still hard to bear for the price.l and Power Clean does work well in interior and exterior.
