I purchased a new Subaru Forrester that has black plastic trim all around the bottom. Do you all put anything on this trim to protect it and keep it looking new?

Thanks

Carpro Dlux or Gyeon Trim will keep it looking good for a while.

I agree with BSoares. I have not used Gyeon, but I have used Dlux and is very long lasting.

Actually I just bought the Dlux as well as the Griots Garage's Ceramic Wipes almost as a comparison as well as ease of use - not that Dlux is any way difficult to apply.

Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant (WETS) is also an outstanding trim product.

I’m actually testing WETS and blackfire tire and trim sealant on my windshield wiper blades since I really like both of them.

I applied wets to one side of the blade and Blackfire to the other side of the blade, it’s only been since Sunday but they’re both holding up very well as they should.

I took pics before and after, unfortunately the lighting was horrible so the pics really don’t show much.

I’ll post as once they start showing a difference!

I’ll be using Cerakote trim wipes on Monday, black cladding on Rav4.

They are the one’s who makes Griots trim wipes and if Griots is willing to put their name one it (Griots prides them selves on making their own chemicals) I gotta believe it’s been thoroughly tested.

Also gotta believe if it’ll hold up to the heat of an AR gotta last on trim.

Note: last part a joke. Same company but not same coating...

My Mustang has the lower skirts in black plastic. I started out dressing them with 303 after each wash. Perhaps excessive, but I enjoyed the process.

I then started using Reload on them, offering better durability and longevity.

I then bit the bullet and coated them with DLUX.

The pics don't do the result justice.

DLUX has up to 12 months durability, Reload 3-6 months and 303 2 - 3 washes.

Very nice job. Sometimes "biting the bullet" just makes more sense. What did you use on the exhaust?

I use P21S Polishing Soap every now and then. The tips are wiped over with Megs Last Touch after each wash.

(Different car used for display purposes)

IMO move right into a coating like Dlux or Q2 Trim. Dlux is easier to use, isn't as grippy and on textured surfaces you won't need to wipe it off nearly as much.

Here's a coating on a brand new vehicle. It will stay nice and dark and satin like this for a long while.

Both will add the dark color back to even moderately faded trim on older vehicles too. This is a 5yr old 4x,xxx mile Mazda that I did a few weeks back.

My wife's Lincoln was done 3yrs ago and we just got rid of it last week and it looked brand new like the day I coated it still.

Thanks guys, got that done. Now, what about the A pillars or whatever they are called on the back edge of the doors by the windows? Would you use DLUX on those too?

Thanks

Yes to the pilllars. And do your headlights & taillights while you're at it.

Also I'll add here that whatever trim (etc.) you are coating, proper surface prep beforehand is key to getting the full benefits from the product ... you especially want to make sure the surface is free of oils, etc.

Already got the headlights, wiper arms, luggage rack and grill, will do the pillars and tail lights next. I prep with an alcohol/water mixture.
