Been researching and applying my first coating. Everything is about hydrophobic behavior. It dawned on me that living in the South Plains that we get very little rain. Dust is much more of a problem for cars here than water. Bits of New Mexico blow by more often than rain clouds.

so what type of LSP - wax, sealant, coating - gives the best dustaphobic finish?

For a severe condition, I'd go with a quality coating since it's being hammered alot

Slick hydrophobic protection would likely be what you are after.

Seems to me anything that resists water has a tendency to let light dust and dirt go while driving. Unless it's wet but then that's where the hydrophobic part comes in.

Meguiar's Hybrid Paint Coating is very slick, hydrophobic, easy to apply, and fairly inexpensive.

They claim at least a year of protection but it hasn't been out long enough to verify.

I am interested in following as I have a dark Boxster that gets a lot of AZ. dust and only sees rinseless washes so it is susceptible to light marring.
Is there a sealant or coating that has some sort of resistance to marring?

The only time I ever heard of a LSP being marr ing resistant was with applying multiple layers of Klasse SG. Apparently marr ing can occur in the layers of SG but not the paint itself but I have never personally seen this.

I just wash with a hose and foam gun using an extreme method and never have to worry about marr ing.

A garage haha. Fighting dust is a losing battle. I don't freak out if my car gets dust from sitting outside. I'll just wash it on the weekend. It's an endless cycle. Now the other in the garage it is a non-issue unless the garage is open. Again a simple wash takes care of it.

Product from europe. Got my interest.

Suppose to be both positive and negatively charged.

•For your situation, IMO:
-Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax—using Meguiar’s
D156 Synthetic X-press Spray Wax as part and
parcel of not only the “The Final Wipe” (M.P.)
process...but also as the “drying-aid” thereafter.

•But then again:
-What is the “Best” is, at best: highly
debatable; at worst: highly divisive.

...“real world” testing (staying upfront and
ahead of the fray) provides proof positive;
charges of negativity vehemently denied!”
