howdy,

Can kerosene remove clear coat? I never tried nor will I......unless some one can kindly confirm with me :) TIA

No! Kerosene and Mineral Spirits and Naphta are used in a lot of waxes and polishes, also used in tar removers. Toluene, xyline, acetone,lacquer thinner may hurt some paint.

I think people way back in the early 1900's used to "wax" their cars like Model T's with Kerosine. What it did, I have no idea, don't know if it polished or left protection...can't imagine so lol :D

While it wont remove clearcoat, it is quite a heavy solvent. Add in the ability to light on fire, and well, I would stay away from it as possible even for cleaning.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going give kerosene a shot or maybe mineral spirits a shot, if kero dont work.

with Prepsol, Acyrosol, Paint Prep, and 3M Wax and Adhesive remover, I too fail to see the need for kerosene specifically. Whats up ??
