Myths in Detailing and Detailing Products

a relative of mine told me that I will rub my paint off, when he saw me buffing the paint with a MF after I removed a coat of wax...:D
 
Read the bottle and understand the product, the name does not always imply what or how the product will work.

This is not actually a myth.Some very old paints had this 'ability' to washed off.I don't remember why (it was something wrong with the mixture of the paint) but it was possible to wipe your car for drying and see the paint colour on the towel....
 
That polythelene covered leather uphostery (used in 95% of current vehicles) require 'leather conditioning'

The myth that only GEEKS detail their cars. I think it's very soothing and helps to relieve the tension and pressure of the day. My wife says my car is too clean and that I'm anal about keeping it that way. If she only knew.
 
My uncle tells my dad and I, when we're out detailing, that "a clean car is a sign of a sick mind." As far as I'm concerned, if you're not taking care of a 10-60 thousand dollar investment, you are a sad sad human.

cleanliness is next to godliness .... (Im sure I spelled that wrong):D
 
1. A new cars paint should be not be waxed for 90 days to allow the paint to breath

2. Leather needs oils or callogen like skin to stay supple

3. UV products for paint are rated in accordance with a UV index
 
I'll leave the name of the product out of this but they tout "Never Wax your car again". And then later on say it last's 5 years? I have a couple of friends who have used it swear by it and then showed them a month later how well it really lasted.
