Hello all. Newb here from AZ. Been browsing this site for a few days and think I have made a decision on what products to use. Just wondering what others think of the product combo I have chosen. First I have a 08 accord with 28k miles and the paint isn't bad. Has some swirls and fine scratches. I was going to purchase the PC with the edge double sided foam kit and use megs 105 followed by megs 205 and top it off with 4 star upp. Also beforehand would be washing with megs gold class followed by clay bar. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

sounds like a good combo but if the paint has minor swirls i would try 205 first imo.

Sounds like a good process. Hondas have very soft paint. M105 may be too aggressive for it. A good rule of thumb to follow is to start with your least aggressive combo. In your case, M205 with a polishing pad would be a good start and then go from there. A great PC kit to look into is this one:

Menzerna kit, 5.5 lake country pads, porter cable menzerna kit, ceramic clear polishing kit, Mercedes polishing kit (http://autogeek.net/pc7424-menzerna-ceramic-kit.html)

It's a little pricey...but with Menzerna, you get what you pay for.

There is a new PC coming out. Honestly I would get the flex. A lot of people get the PC and end up getting the flex a couple months later. But, if money is a issue, the PC is fine.

As for your paint. Honda paint is on the soft side. So use the least aggressive method first. I would use the M205 with a white pad, befor you hit the M105. The 205 might work.

Welcome. can't disagree with any of the advice above. If you have the money and maybe want to detail some other cars for fun, get the flex. The PC is a great tool and the products you mentioned would be fine.

And make sure your regular washing technique is extra careful as Josh mentioned, Honda has softer paint so you can induce swirls easily by washing, drying, buffing etc...

I would try 205 first before 105. On Honda I have had great luck with Meg 83 and 80 and Prima Swirl.

Get the kit that Josh recommended, the edge pads are too big and heavy for the pc. I have a complete set and it sits on my shelf collecting dust. Get 5.5" pads and 4" with backing plate for heavier correction.

I am looking at the flex also. I would like to make a lil money detailing, so a better polisher is always good. I also have a brand new 09 tahoe i wanna polish and protect. and my father has a blue 01 silverado that has never been taken care of and has oxidation. i was lookin at the megs 83 also.

so the 205 is good on the honda...should be good enough for the tahoe too since it is brand new (i didnt even let the dealer wash it when i took delivery)... what about the oxidized silverado? will the 105 take care of that?

The flex with 105 and 205 is a great combo. The 205 should take care of the Honda and the 105-205 should take care of the Chevy's.

The Flex would definitely be the better choice of machines. As Surfer said...105 and 205 will take care of your other cars. You could also get something like 85RD to add as a third step if you want. If you end up getting the Flex, you can get a PFW pad for better correction.

ok i think im gonna go with the flex. now im at a toss up over menzerna po 83 and po 106 fa or meguiars 105 and 205. read a lot of good things about menzerna...but also read some good things over meguiars. i think im going to use 4star upp or wolfgang dgps 3.0. what u guys think?

If you go with 105 and 205 get yourself some Ultrafina or 85rd to finish with. 205 does not finish down all that great.

so i ordered a whole arsenal of stuff. got the flex 3401 along with some LC 7" kompressor pads (3 of each), menzerna po83, po106 fa, and po85rd, and to top that off i got the wolfgang deep gloss sealant 3.0 combo with the qd spray. also got misc microfiber towels, guzzlers, 2 grit guards. look forward to polishing my cars and family members.

are there any waxes that dirt, dust, and stuff wont stick to? dont think im gonna use any wax on top of the sealant for that reason. being in az cars get a fine layer of dust an hour after ur done. probably just do a few layers of sealant and maintain it with the qd.

Looks like you got a real pro's selection there and won't go wrong with any of it. You're gonna love the Flex and since you mentioned family, they will likely never leave you alone, literally lining up to do their car next. Most of us on this forum will top a sealant with a wax and only after allowing it to cure for at least 12 hours. Since you're going with WG's 3.0 DGS, you can enhance the brilliance of your finish exponentially with WG's Fusion Wax or any other "high-end" wax of your researches choice.

Been lookin at waxes, tryin to find one that repels, dust, dirt, oil, etc. Is Fuzion the only one that does this?
