Just wondering how you know when the polish is broken down? Im using XMT3 two coats then XMT1 one coat, i mist the pad with conditioner before each panel....it just seems like the polish turns clear after going over the panel once on speed 5....

Then it just looks the same the rest of the time, so im trying to figure out how i know when im done polishing that panel?

a polish is broken down when it flashes from a damp paste to a talc like powder. Easiest way to see it ... is put a little on a foamie and wipe on like a wax. Sit back and watch it ... when it clouds it is flashing.

Now obviously using a buffer will help versus just laying a coat of polish on car. Why ?? Because you are using and breaking down the abrasives in the polish. Just letting a coat sit and wipe off isnt going to do any good. This is why you can use a pad conditioner to help keep the polish from flashing so soon, and thus truly breaking down the abrasives and abrading the cars surface.
