Which one would be better to clean wheel or they would be the same?
What are you working on?
By this I mean,
- Chrome wheels?
- Bare or non-coated aluminum wheels?
- Factory painted wheels?
- Anodized Aluminum?
- Magnesium?
You match your wheel cleaner to either,
- The material the wheel is made out of
- The coating on the wheel
If you have bare, non-coated aluminum wheels then you are working on the material aluminum.
If you have painted or anodized aluminum wheels then you're no long working on aluminum you're working on a coating.
Make sense?
- Chrome is a coating over steel
- Factory painted wheels would be paint on usually steel wheels
So when it comes to working on wheels the first thing to do is to find out what you're working on? A material or a coating?
Meguiar's Wheel Brightener contains some acid to dissolve brake dust, you don't want to use wheel cleaners that contain acid on,
- Bare, uncoated aluminum wheels
- Anodized aluminum wheels
- Magnesium wheels
You can use a wheel cleaner that uses acid on
- Chrome wheels
- Factory painted wheels
Wheel cleaners that contain acid usually do the best job at removing brake dust, acid doesn't however work well to dissolve oily things like Road Grime and built up dirt, that's were some type of detergent soap comes in handy.
So find out what your wheels are either made out of or coated with and then you can pick the best and safest product for cleaning "your" specific make of wheel.
