I haven't done any actual work yet but I made my huge first order and picked up the collinite 476 solely because of our central ny winters and the salt is insane. After reading I have noticed that almost everyone goes for the 815 and now I am wondering if I should have and if I made a mistake. I know 476 requires more elbow grease and I am not using a DA :(

There is no 815--I'm presuming you meant 845 and not 915. I think the 476 is more durable than 845, but the 845 is easier to work with.

Just apply thin and you will be fine.

Not sure if you meant 845 instead of 815 ?
You cannot go wrong with Collinite, no matter which item you purchased. Each of us has a preference. With 476 learning to put it on very thin is a problem, but once mastered it goes on and off easily. Those who like 845 like it because its a liquid. Take you time. You might want to do a panel at a time apply, then remove. You should realize about 8-10 months of winter protection. Another product you will see discussed is the Durogloss 105/601 combo, which is also a good winter wax.

Love the username! 476 is still quite easy to use as long as you apply it thin. 845 is easier, but 476 is more durable. If you want the absolute best protection, stick with 476.

Oh thanks guys for the reassurance! I will try my best to apply thin might be hard being my first time. Any tips for getting a thin coat? A fellow DMB fan Matt? I am definitely looking for good durability so that's good then. The salt here is pretty bad!

Apply it so thin you can barely see it = thin.

I'm a huge DMB fan :xyxthumbs:

I love 476. Used it on my Cressida last September, wax was still there in July. No garage or cover after December.

Take what you think a thin layer of wax is, then apply it thinner.
