Hi,

it is necessery to dry the car after you wash it to pass the claybar on paint ?
since after the clay you have to wash the vehicule again?

Thanks

You don't have to wash the car after claying. If you're going to wax afterwards just use a Pre wax cleanser or ipa wipe down or paint prep such as Klean Strip prep all to remove oils and lubricants.

If you are using a no rinse wash you don't have to dry to clay because no rinse wash can also be used as a clay lube

I don't dry the car before claying

unless you are using car soap as your clay lube, there is also no need to wash the car again after claying...

i have been told to do:

wash
dry
clay
wash
dry

what i would like to do its cut a step

Wash
clay
wash
dry

do i'm wrong?

car will be dried pretty much as you wipe off the clay lube.

You can take a blower to the seams, mirrors, and gas cap areas if you like too.

So claying with soap means rinse again of course...

But is there any other home made clay lubricants.. that stuff gets expensive!

Only time I dry before I clay is if it is really hot out. and I always use ONR for clay lube.

Thats not much cheaper :)

64 gallons of clay bar lubricant for $39.99 isn't cheaper?

2oz ONR per gallon of clay lube / 128 oz per gallon ONR = 64 gallons clay lube

I use 4-8 ounces every time I clay a car while it is still wet after rinsing depending on car size. That comes out to right about 2-4 cents per car in clay lube.

Very economical.

What I do usually is...

Wash & Leave Wet
Spray Bottle with Poorboys SS&W for clay
Clay the car
Pressure wash all water off real quick
Dry
Wax

what I used to do?

Wash Car
Pull into garage
Clay car (use lube even tho the car is still wet to get much better lubricity)
Pull the car out of the garage and do the final wash

I've found no matter what clay I use they "bleed" onto the paint leaving smears and a mess.

I've never had problems with smearing unless the clay was old. What kind of clay and lube do you use?

Zaino, Mothers, Megs, Clay Magic Blue/Red, Sonus, and Pinnacle.

Lube I've used Megs Quick Detailer, Dodo Juice BTBS, ONR, Clay Magic lube and mothers.

Wash, clay, polish, seal. Done.

I don't see the point in washing after clay. I just wipe each panel down immediately after claying it. If you just go around the vehicle and clay, but don't wipe the panels clean and the dirt you removed dries back on the vehicle...then yeah, you should wash.

The only time I wash a second time is after compound. If you're just polishing...keep it clean, and you're all set.
