Hi all,

What would you recommend to use before apply Meg's NXT 2.0 poly wax?

What I already did:
1. wash
2. clay
3. Mothers pre-wax cleaner - orange pad 3-6 passes
4. MF wipeout
5. overnight in garage

I have 90% IPA and Meg's APC
which one to use before apply Meg's NXT 2.0 liquid wax?
I plan to apply NXT twice - 8 hours apart

I read about 10% of IPA or 1:20 APC.
Which one?

tnx
Mike.

NXT has cleaners in it, so stripping the paint isn't completely necessary. You are already using a pre-wax cleaner so you should be able to apply directly after.

Agreed. Also I used to use NXT a lot, and the durability is horrible. Do you have any other waxes?

Just my .02 but i'd trying something like klean strip prep all. No diluting.. Just damp your rag and wipe down the car. I usually follow with a damp rag (water) and buff dry (I overkill a lot).
IMO this makes a perfectly oil and lubricant free surface for any sealant or wax to bond to

:iagree: I didn't see the Pre-Wax cleaner.

thanks everyone.
I used NXT 2.0 the last year twice and it's almost full.
So, I used it and plan to do 2nd coat tomorrow.
Yes, I know that it isn't durable :-(

The next time I'll use something else, may be opti-coat or etc.

That's what I was thinking after I recently did some paint ships on the hood and used a can of Wurth Prep-Solve I had around to clean the chips before painting.

I used Dr C-Chip paint/solvent with a Lanka method card in cloth removal tool and the chips came out looking great!

3. Mothers pre-wax cleaner - orange pad 3-6 passes

How did using a heavy polishing pad (LC orange pad) with Mothers Pre-Wax Cleaner work?

I would be concerned about the orange pad leaving marring.

Prep-All is a product specifically designed to really clean the surface making it ready for your favorite sealant or wax.

Meguiar's NXT is an a OK product but there are several sold through Autogeek that work so much better. Depending on your location and if you're looking for extended durability then something like the following;

Here are some other recommendations...

Sealants

Wax

Body shops use it daily. You have to treat it the same as you would any chemical. Wear gloves in a good ventilated area!

Not saying that benzene is not harmful....indeed it no doubt is....(there's always the % and purity of chemicals to think about also), but there's a lot of products that contain benzene:

{Note: The majority of the below info sourced from EPA's website, Household Products Chemicals List}

Adhesives, asphalts, calibrating fluid, charcoal lighter fluid, cigarette lighter fluid, contact cements, gasoline, glues, kerosene, hydraulic fluids, inks and ink markers, lacquer thinner, pesticides, processing film, rubber cement, solvents, and vinyl thinner, oven cleaners, detergents, polish, spot removers, among others.

Here's more specific ones, but again, not all inclusive:

Again...IMO...Care, and noting the chemical make-up should be taken when selecting not only car care products, but also in the selection/use of products for everyday-household and workplace environments as well.

Either that...Or have trust in your chemical suppliers

BTW....I am curious to find out what active ingredients are in CarPro's Erasure.....can someone please provide that info (MSDS)? Thanks in advance.

Back to your question OP:

Following the advice in JonMiles post would be a very good idea.

Hi BobbyG.......Welcome back!!

This (MSDS) doesn't mean I won't continue to use Prep-All or similar products. I also consider the %-by-volume, and the purity of the chemicals in products when deciding how to make the paint-film surface "squeaky clean".

I also use naptha, IPA, and mineral spirits. I tend to follow the directions/precautions/proper PPE while using all of these cleaners/solvents products, though.

Thanks for the posting. And hope your doing well.

:)
