Thinking about Opti Coat or another coating...help decide!

Assuming you've wetsanded and left a very thin clear coat, is opticoat enough to cover the lost layers of clear? - that is before LSP of course.
 
Btw can it be applied to gel-coat?

Yes, if properly prepped free of oxidation and waxes/sealants/oils

On auto assembly lines the average amount of paint lost to compounding and polishing is between 2 and 4 microns. Opti Guard will replace 2+/- microns and Opti Coat 2.0 will replace 1-2 microns per layer. More aggressive correction will remove more than that, but OC is still the only way to add ANY permenant thickness back. Any other product short of a respray will only sit on the surface and start to degrade immediately.

... and therein lies the beauty of OC or OG! Nothing else adds urethane!
