Polishing tight areas?

Is there a method to orbital polish the less wide sections of a car like the A pillar section connecting the body to the roof? What about the top of bumper or bottom of trunk lid around the key hole. Any secrets to share?

Great forum, just got my 7424xp today. Results are very good using scratch x 2.0 with orange ccs pad and klasse aio with white pad. All credit to Mike Phillips and posters here. Didn't even use klasse sg and shine is great. On a ten year old neglected nighthawk black civic to boot. Might go for megs ultimate compound then klasse aio instead of scratch x as a polish. Thanks in advance.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser pads or the generic version does well for the tight spaces like under door handles and the skinny A pillars. Those type of pads are essentially 3600-3800 grit grade papers.
 
Those areas we just hit by hand and a cyclo pad (not sure the size of them) - or even use an older waffle pad, take chunks off and use by hand.

Like everyone's saying, use a smaller foam pad on your dual action polisher with the appropriate pad. The nice part about these are they can be used on your machine or by hand.

These pads can be used on both a dual action machine or rotary polisher......:props:

We've recently brought in some 3" HD pads that work great on the Flex PE14.

You can also use them on a PC style polisher but when you get that small of a pad, (footprint) on the end of your polisher the polisher can be "tippy" when using it on horizontal surfaces usually because you're not accustomed to having to pay more attention to the control of the tool.


Here's a thread about the small pads, you can also get a 3" backing plate for DA Polishers.

4" pads work well to... match the size of the pad to the panel you're working on...

The section in front of the windshield was worked-over using a 4" Cyan Pad on the 5.0 Speed setting with Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover, later to be re-polished with Wolfgang Finishing Glaze on a white 4" CCS pad.

thank you so much for this info.
So, I have a PC 7424XP and plan getting the 3 inch BP and 3 inch Hydro-Tech foam pads, any specific indications or techniques on this products with the PC 7424XP? So far I've been using 5.5 inch CCS pads.
 
I use the PE-14 and 3" HT pads.

If it's crazy crazy tight like in lid gutters or cramped engine areas for metal polishing out comes the cordless dremel
