I am doing a quick detail on my white 2012 Jetta this weekend. No one around here can get DG105, so I am going to use some IW I have.

If I am using 501 as my AIO/cleaner, how long do I have to wait before topping with IW?

Thanks!

Brett

mix 1 part 601 with 4 parts 501 and it flash cures allowing u to top it immediately!

if you cant get some 601, wait 12-24 hours

Thanks. Wish I could locate some 601. How is 501 on its own?

It's awesome on its own. Check out this truck I just did with only 601. If you wanted to top it, you would need to wait 12 hours. If you mix it with 601, you can top it immediately. Or, put 601 down and then 501 into it, and then remove and top. Either way, 601 is a valuable asset as it eliminates curing time and also makes the product's durability better than it is on its own. Hope that helps.

Here's the truck to which I was referring:

Thanks. Hopefully I can get some 601 quickly or have the time to wait the 12 hours, though it looks like 501 would be awesome on white by itself.

What are the consequences of topping it before 12 hours?

I believe it won't have fully cross linked in that time so it would not be as effective for long term durability as it would if left to cure properly.

Seems logical. If I cant get the 601 maybe I'll take a look at how it looks on its own. If I want more, maybe I'll experiment with topping it early....like 6 hours.

Some follow up. couldnt get 105 or 601, so I am going to lay down some 501 on its own today. I should have 105 and 601 by next weekend. So, I am planning on mixing the 105 and 601 4:1 and applying that. Sound good?

Going forward, If I mix the 501 and 601 and then want to top with 105, should I mix some 601 into the 105?

Thanks. From what I have seen, 501 should look GREAT on its own and even better next weekend when I top it!
