Megs mf pad decided to come apart today. I've only used it maybe 10 times, if that. Thankfully I had another. Is this normal life expectancy for these pads? The polishing pad is still holding up.. so far.

I noticed the center of the mf was bubbling like a loose carpet so I knew it was coming. Then 2 or 3 passes later...

Call or email Meguiar's Customer care line and they will replace it for you. :xyxthumbs:

Do you by chance machine wash and dry your mf pads? I haven't had any issues with mine.

I had this issue with a foam pad. I turned down the PC speed to about 5 and just a little less pressure and havent had issues since. What speed and how much pressure do you use?

I can vouch for this as well. I've only had the pad split or warp at speed 6 on a PCXP and with heavy pressure.

Had the exact same thing happen meguiars replaced it with 2 brand new ones now that's service!

No machine. Just pad cleaner or APC+ & sun dry.

I was at 6 or close to it. Moderate pressure for the first few passes then lighten up for the last 1 or 2. I'll keep it dialed in at 5 next time & see how that goes.

I figured Meguiars would replace it. Not really a big deal unless it keeps happening.

It think you're using too high a speed - of the top of my head, I believe Meguiar's recommends using their MF pads at 4800 OPM, which is speed 4 or 5, depending on which machine you have.

I had the same thing happen with one of my 3in mf pads. I assumed I worked it for too long and it got hot. Speed 4 on a GG 6" ROP

So far all of my 5 in pads are holding up but I have 4 of them and rotate/wash them every two sections.

Try the optimum mf Pads. Also. The size of their pads are just fit with da backing plate. 3.25, 4.25, 5.25 and 6.25 inch
