How did I spend my 4th of July you might ask. I spent it detailing my 2011 Subaru WRX Limited. This was my first time detailing with a DA buffer (PC 7424XP). Special thanks to Jason (IconicDetailing) for his time and help. The car turned out great.

Great way to spend a holiday I say! That color looks great on the car for sure but one question....debadging, is that in your future plans? The reason I ask is because Soobie seems to be adding lots of badging to their cars lately, less is more IMO and besides, makes detailing alot easier too!

I actually just got it back from getting some hail damage repaired and while the glue for the badges was still wet, I removed the Impreza that was above the WRX on the trunk. I might remove some or all the badges on the left side of the trunk, but haven't decided.

Sorry to hear about the hail damage, that's gotta be such a helpless feeling for sure! I saw your hat in the reflection pic, bet you don't wanna hear "golf ball sized hail" ever again, damn that sucks!

Your onto something with what you wanna remove, I was thinking the exact same thing, just the WRX is enough IMO and besides, they're not even on each side as far as how they line up and there's too much on one side and not enough on the other anyways, remove everything other than the WRX. I'm kinda of the "badge police" with my buddy's, case in point is the new Challenger, why does it say CHALLENGER in the grill with one font and then it says CHALLENGER in the old school, cursive font on the fenders, why is this, HUUUUUGE oversight IMO.

Actually, in my case, it was baseball size hail. The body shop had it for over 3 weeks and as we were detailing it we notices a lot of problems and mistakes that the painter made during the repairs. There are a lot of pits where they let contaminants or bubbles get in the clear coat. Those are mostly through the clear coat so they aren't really fixable without wet sanding. There was another small spot where they missed that sparkle part of the color coat and then added the clear-coat, so the color doesn't match the rest (luckily this was very small and low so it is not very noticeable). They may have fixed the dents, but the paint was in worse shape when I got it back than it was when I took it in. I'll never be going back to that body shop again.

Looking good! And nice car!

Hlows the paint on these newr Subarus? I know the older ones have very thin clear coats.

Nice car man! I'm partial to limited sedans! I vote debadge the entire car. I even removed the grille badge! Now I just need to get rid of the side badges and seats.

I'm still planning on debadging the Subaru and AWD on the trunk. The WRX emblems will stay. I live in an apartment and it's been triple digit temps for a while (not the best conditions for working outside). I actually did the detailing when I was visiting my home town in MS.

As for the clearcoat... yes it seems to be thin. We got close to going through in two small spots.

Thanks everyone for all the nice comments.
