Hey everybody. Here is my dilemma. I plan on keeping (black Toyota truck with clear coat) for over 20 years. Biggest problem for me is waterspots. It is a dd and will be driven in rain and snow. Im not concerned with the truck looking perfect all of the time, I primarily want to always be able to bring it back to excellent condition. My question is should I limit the polishing in order to keep it for the long haul? My understanding is that if there is type 11 waterspot, the water will pool to that area and etch it deeper. Then I might have to compound the area. If I keep it polished, this will not be the problem, however, if I polish it whenever it gets waterspots, I won't have any clear paint left. Is my understanding wrong? Should I polish every time I see waterspots or wait and get them once or twice a year? Any help would be appreciated.

Apply Opti coat, and that will slow down the etching.
