I do not own one and use a sponge to wash the car. Since these are on BOGO, I am thinking about buying. The concept makes sense but my sponge only floats on top and never goes to the bottom.

Do you use these with with a mitt or with everything?

Any time I wash a vehicle with a bucket I use one. My mitt sits at the surface too, but the grit guard works for scrubbing dirt out of the mitt also.

Squeezing the sponge on the grit guard help release any dirt.

It will also keep the grit on the bottom of the bucket instead of swirling around and getting back on your mitt.

Probably should have said that too, but I assumed that was the implied main use of one.

I would never wash without these as they really help to reduce wash induced swirls. Use them with the two bucket method. They are a great deal on BOGO.
