Been reading up and notice that there are a couple of supplies we can get at homedepot... buckets, all purpose cleaners, brushes, etc...

Wondering what the detailers with more experience and time in the game buy at their local hd.

Some sort of list for us newbies would be great

I'm a n00b myself, and the first thing I thought of (detail stuff wise) from HD is Folex.

Many of the Zep cleaning and deoderizing products are available there. I always got my 5 gal buckets from construction sites and rinsed the paint out of them. Free and usually with a lid if you looked hard enough.

While I can speak to Home Depot, my Lowe's carries quite a few of Meguiar's over the counter products. These are the same products typically found at WalMart, Target, Autozone. These products might not be their professional Mirror Glaze line but they do a great job and perform as designed.

Buckets, brushes, and all purpose cleaners will work but remember to follow their directions.

They carry Simple Green Pro HD, which is purple, not green, and safe for aluminum unlike regular simply green. They also carry a nice 44 dollar aluminum work bench you can stand on to reach higher roofs.

Aluminum Work Platform Type II 225 lb. Load Capacity-AP-20 at The Home Depot

They carry empty Zep labeled spray bottles that work well, just need to twist nozzle to almost closed to get a decent mist, otherwise it streams, but they work well Otherwise.

Isnt mineral spirits the same as paint or laquer thinner

I get Zep Purple from home depot - dilute in spray bottle use as APC
I also get the Zep citrus cleaner - Dilute and use as under carriage cleaner

Zep purple does a GREAT job of cleaning your tires, I used to use Adams APC until discovering this, does just as good, if not better of a job

Folex ftw!

Brass quick connects

I got a Homelite Leaf Blower there to dry my car ($30). It is very small and weighs less than 5lbs. It has two speeds 120mph/150mph (120mph is pretty much useless though). Works pretty well on a coated or freshly waxed car. Does nothing for a unprotected car. More speed/power would have been nice but I like its size so thats what I went with. I guess Wal-Mart sells a weedeater one with one speed that is the same size and is slightly more powerful for about $25 but I do like the fact that my Homelite has 2 speeds even though I pretty much only use 1.
