How do you learn to fix rims that have had close encounters with curbs? I see there are some detailing sites that offer online classes, some seem to offer "hands on" instruction. For those detailers who repair rims... Is it something you can just pick up? Where did you get your training? What equipment is needed? And a bunch of other questions.

I learned through a bit of experimentation, although that ultimately led to the conclusion that there is a clear line in the sand between the good pros and what can be accomplished in the driveway. Nonetheless, I've had good luck in making improvements on a few sets of silver wheels, and the process is - dare I say it - fun. Some work with the Dremel, a bit of hand sanding and compounding, and then the Wurth spray paint...you can definitely turn 20-footers into 10-footers, and maybe even five-footers.

I have a great wheel repair guy here in seattle does great work. It normal cost $150 a wheel to fix curbing.
