All of the consumer grade carpet extractors (like the Bissel LGCM) have a transparent plastic tool/nozzle/head (I dunno what the exact term should be, they call them a "tool" in the store here), so you can see the "color" of what you are extracting from the carpet/upholstery.

From what I can see in the store pictures, the pro machines sold here (Mytee and Aztec) have a solid stainless steel tool, so you can't see the extracted fluid. To me that's a negative, because you can't tell if what you are extracting is clean (people who have used these machines feel free to correct me). Of course, the plastic ones on the consumer machines always break.

Then in another thread, Mike Phillips posted a picture from one of his Boot Camps, and well, this tool clearly (ha ha) has a transparent viewport thru which to see the extracted effluent.

Mike or someone else, what tool or machine is depicted here?

I wish the more high end one where transparent so I could tell if all the dirt is gone.

What a coincidence, yesterday I was talking to Penny about this and today I was talking to Todd Helm about this...

These pictures were taken from one of my Detailing Boot Camp Classes,

Pictures & Comments from May 5th & 6th Detailing Boot Camp

I think having a transparent extractor nozzle is one of the most important part of doing any extraction work... otherwise how will you know when one area is clean and it's time to move one?

It just makes perfect sense.

:dunno:

So it looks like from the pictures it's the Aztec Hot Rod that has that transparent nozzle. I can't tell from the store pictures; is the Hot Rod tool still like that? And the Mytee tool isn't?

I would love a transparent nozzle for my Mytee 8070.... Christmast gift?

As far as I know, the all come with stainless steel extractor wands.

I found the transparent one in a box of leftover extractor supplies years ago and have treated it like GOLD ever since.

The before and after pictures using a transparent extractor wand completely tell the story of before and after dirty upholstery.

You can have my transparent extractor wand when you pry it out of my cold, dead fingers....

:D

My extractor came with a transparent wand. Its not a nice and the one Mike has but it does the trick for me!

The Aztec Hot Spotter usually comes furnished with a transparent 3" detail tool.

The 3" SS detail tool (S2-38-CD) is a $105 accessory upgrade.

I looked into this a few years ago. If you need to see the liquid don't get one that is completely see thru. It will break. If its not me its one of my helpers who will drop that nozzle at least once a day. They make steel ones with a little window. You can also get hoses with the injector hose inside the extraction hose. Pretty cool stuff. It was a little pricey for this set up ($300) so I decided to wait until I needed some replacements. You can find these things to fit most any machine you buy. I own the Mytee HP 60.
