I've been a weekend warrior detailer for 12 years. I learned from a personal friend that was a professional, now retired.

I mostly do my personal cars but occasionally for family and friends.

My mentor used DG products and I continued that tradition. I really like the system.

Years ago (10ish) I bought 652 and 111. I still have them from that purchase but a lot has changed...

So now I'm looking to round out my arsenal.

My only tool that I have been using for 12 years is an old, Milwaukee 12A Rotary. It has some serious power, 1500 watts. I have the 3M 7" Perfect-It Pad System but have only ever purchased the black finishing pads. I use it fairly often, I've gotten really good with it. I've never used a DA.

The vehicle that I'm struggling with is a 1998 Nissan Frontier, black that has been outside since new, I've owned it for 7 years but recently it starts to oxidize fast. Last summer I fully corrected it with, clay, 3M Rubbing Compound , Polishing Compound, and finally DG 111. I waxed it once between now (it should have had it more), but it has really heavy oxidation.

To be fair, that gen of Nissan's seem to have bad paint. Most are peeled off by now. So I'm happy that it's still on but I like my cars glossy with little to no swirls.

I just got done using TW Premium Liquid Rubbing and Polishing compound. It's all I had on hand, sorry. It works but its a bear to work with, caking up all the time, etc.

DG doesn't actually have real paint correction products.

I need compound suggestions that don't leave me wanting to massacre every Turtle in my vicinity.

So here is what I'm thinking for my system. Please help me out:

Milwaukee Rotary
7" 3M Compounding Pads
7" 3M Finishing Pads

2.75" Backing Plate
4" LC pads (variety)

Meguiar's Clay

Liquid Products (In order of steps possibly used sans 601 PBA):

Menzerna FG 400
Menzerna SF 4000
DG 671
DG 601
DG 501
DG 105
DG 111
Collinite 845

DG 921
DG 951

Sonax FE

I spoke to Jerry at Duragloss and he recommended 561 Marine Renewer for heavy correction. Although he admitted that they don't get into "compounds". Is 561 or even 671 comparable to like a SF 4000?

I know that 671 has protection and 561 doesn't.

I'm looking for suggestions to have the products for the worst case while also having/using products that just take care of the need. Like 601/105 for maintenance.

Basic correction I'm thinking wash, clay, fg400, sf4000, 601/105, 845.

Suggestions appreciated on all equipment, process, products and my current problem vehicle.

Last, here is the problem vehicle after last year's correction:

PS it doesn't look like this now. It took me 6 hours just to compound the hood and roof. Now it needs polished...

So...any compound/polish suggestions? I'm looking for something easy to work with.

IMHO, can't go wrong with FG400 and / or Sonax PF - both work incredibly well in my limited experience.
