Hey guys and girls. Got a question for you.

Ok so I have purchased a MK5 Volkswagen Golf GT and as much of a lovely car it is, the paint has not been cared for properly. It is covered in swirls and has a few scratches. Most of the scratches I have inspected seem pretty easy to remove, however there are a couple on there that I'm unsure about. My question is how do I tell if a scratch is to deep to remove with a Meguiars G220 V2.

I look forward to your replies :)

Many Thanks
Jay

If it catches on your finger nail then more than likely its too deep to remove.

Factory cc is paper thin, considering this, if the scratch can be felt in any way, it is probably too deep to be buffed out.

When there is a scratch if it is to deep to remove, it can still be compounded then polished. To make it less noticeable. Just don't work the area to long and burn through

Thanks for the response guys. Great Help. Unfortunatly two of the scratches catch on my fingernail so i think ill have to learn to live with them. Does anyone have an opinion on the touch up pens?

Are they any good? If so would you recomend any brands?

Its a Metallic Blue Clear Coat. 2005 so going to be a hard paint.

You can always fill the scratch then after it's cured compound and polish. Paint pens are tough to get a clean fill, but good for a quick fix. Your better off with a small bottle of paint and tooth picks.

I'd recommend a light sanding with 3000 grit then polish out.

Pictures would help.
