Had this C6 Grand Sport in a month or so back and just getting around to posting it up. I owned a Jetstream Blue C6 a few years back so this color has a special place in my heart. The paint wasn't in terrible shape, so we decided on a single stage correction with more aggressive spot correction in areas that required it. After the correction was complete I locked everything in with Opti Coat Professional paint coating and Optimum's Opti Glass Professional was applied to all glass surfaces. The car also received a full custom front end clear bra including the front bumper, hood, fenders, A pillars, mirrors, and areas in front of the rear wheels.

Products Used:

  • Sonax Full Effect wheel cleaner
  • ZEP Citrus Degreaser
  • CG Citrus Wash
  • Clay Magic blue clay
  • DoDo Juice Born Slippery clay lube
  • M105 on LC PFW via FLEX 3401
  • Menzerna SF4000 on LC CCS Grey pad via FLEX 3401
  • Opti Coat Professional coating
  • Opti Glass Professional glass coating
  • Poorboy's wheel sealant
  • Adam's Super VRT
  • Optimum metal polish
  • Sonax glass cleaner

Here Dave is working on the paint protection film.

Thanks for looking!

Awesome job, that color is beautiful. The last shot in the garage under the lights is the money shot! So glossy.

Fantastic job. Don't know much about the clear bra. I realize it protects the paint from chipping from rocks. Does it yellow, get dull? Can it be or does it need to be polished?

Yeah, I love that blue!

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Modern paint protection films have a clear coat top layer, so they shine and behave much like paint. They are much softer than the clear on paint, so they can be polished and waxed/sealed, but very delicately. Over the life of the film, they can and will yellow. However, the only color you would ever really notice this trait on would be when applied to a white vehicle.

Is this the same as helicopter tape? A customer has it on his Ferrari.

If you're referring to the way they used to protect helicopter blades using clear film then yes. That is how the paint protection films originated. Today's technology differs greatly than the original stuff though.
