Liquid Finish - North Carolina Restoration Porsche 1988 911 Blue

Vehicle: 1988 911 Blue Porsche
Treatment: Two Day Restoration Exterior & Interior, Basic Engine Bay, Specialty Rejuvenation.
Condition:
- predominant wax residue everywhere on trim, vinyl, and every possible crevice on vehicle
- paint was in OK shape, needed a good polish to sort out basic issues after 50K Miles & 25 years
- Total time approximately 20 hours over 2 days.
- Client requested 90% potential and a special “Wow” factor to the vehicle.

This was a fun project! Only issues were getting use to all the older style buttons and latches to open certain parts of the vehicle. Communication was key to inform the client that the vehicle wouldn't be perfect with the age and natural deterioration.

Process:
document paint thickness, record visual condition, find wear and tear items, and inspect all surfaces
porsche crest de waxed and toothpicked to remove residue, Optimum Power Clean and Meguiars Last Touch.
vacuum any carpet surfaces by moving chairs, carpeting, trunk and gaps
center console & all vinyl were scrubbed with a horsehair brush and Leatherique Prestine Clean
seat folds were deep cleaned, removed hair and grit. Front leather seats cleaned with Optimum Power Clean, then hit with Leatherique Rejuvenator Oil just to add suppleness.
headliner front and back wipe down with Leatherique Prestine Clean
carpets removed, cleaned/extracted with Optimum Power Clean & Biokleen Bac Out.
wheel cleaned with Sonax Wheel Cleaner, flushed the wells
tires heavily degreased and treated with Prima Nero
polished wheel lip for a cleaner look with Optimum Metal Polish
double Body Wash with Optimum Car Wash, CarPro IronX to remove iron fallout. Very low iron fall out on the vehicle.
claybar windows and paint. Worst areas were on the wing and roof.
removed sticker with a hair dryer and Optimum Power Clean, no UV deterioration or discoloration.
vehicle was taped heavily, and I hit the trim all around to strip the old wax residue with three treatments of Optimum Power Clean, alcohol, and GR 40 Trim Cleaner
paint compounded with Meguiars Pro Speed Compound M100 / M101, Menzerna Fast Gloss 400
final polish with 3d Car Care HD Polish / White Pad
Prima Amigo for a polymer base, then lower sections and hard to reach areas done by hand (wheel jams, etc)
Menzerna Power Lock applied with 2 coats
final layer of Collinite No. 915 Marque D’Elegance
final wipe down of body with Meguiars Last Touch
rear license plate area bracket removed, cleaned, polished, and sealed with Optimum Opti-Seal.
engine bay lightly steamed and wipe down with Optimum Power Clean
many hours spent with q-tips and towels to remove all the wax residue throughout every crack / seem on the vehicle.
Trim protected with CarPro Perl, Ultima Tire & Trim
Prima Hydro for small areas such as wheel jams after a base of Prima Amigo

Stains galore, some areas after many hours could not be revived.

I would daydream about owning one of those back then.

Nice job!

These aren't that much for the fun/experience they offer. Find a good condition one and watch the maintenance. IMO, they offer a very original driving experience without paying 50K for a brand new vehicle!

Thanks all, this was fun.
