Thanks to the dealer, they washed the car even though they were instructed initially not to do so. It is actually in the computer system. Not sure what they used.

I worked on the car the first time on 12.26.2012,when the car was brand new. The dealer agreed to pay for the detail without any fuss so I went back to correct the paint and reapplied Opti Coat Pro.

I totally forgot to take during pictures, but the customer is very happy again, the paint is back to nearly 100%

Normally underneath the licence plate the paint is pretty filthy from all the build up, but look what happens with Opti Coat. It was clean! :props:

Close to midnight, with tempatures below freezing outside, only the usual inside pictures of the car.

Maybe that check the dealer had to write will make them rethink their wash technique. How bad were the swirls?

Nice work.

I'm curious about the OC pro removal. Was it completely removed during your compounding? Just some areas removed due to deeper scratches? Totally intact, just thinned to the point of needing to reapply?

If it was totally removed during compounding....was it obvious when your struck through? What was the indicator?

If it was only removed in some areas....did you have to adjust your polishing method to finish down well on the clear coat vs. OC pro? Was there an obvious hardness difference in the clear vs OC pro?

Thank you all for commenting. Total was $1000, but as promised, I received the check today. Had zero issue with the dealer, which was a first. Although he did ask for a discount.

This is what happened - when the car came out of the wash bay, the customer was freaking out and as she inspected the trunk, she noticed some deep scratches, that she claims were not there. She asked me to meet her to look at the finish. The day I saw the car, it was overcast but didn't need my led, you could clearly see the defects. In order to remove them, I naturally had to compound the whole car. So what ever was there, I removed. As far as the question about how do you know if you removed OC or not? I used a potent compound with a cutting pad - that itself is a sure bet that OC and the some of the OEM clear is scraped off. The only "safe" way to polish oc is with a finishing pad and finishing polish.

The pictures are all the same settings/process, single shots. I bought a new camera, another Olympus, the EM-1. Came in the day before this detail. Everything was factory settings that day.
