I was presented with the opportunity to detail an 07 S550. The caveat was it has C040 paint, yup ceramiclear It was in pretty bad shape. Alot of swirls, nicks, chips, a very very dirty from a long winter here in the Northeast.
Total Time: 8 plus hours
Products Used:
Wheels:
D111 w/ 2 BM w/ grit guards
Wheel Whoolie
Microfiber Pads
Opt. Clay
ONR Quick Lube
I started off w/ the wheels. They were in real bad shape. After really getting into them, I realized as I was getting the brake dust off that the clear on the rims was flaking off. I jumped on some MB forums and its a known issue. I had to take the next 3 wheels very carefully which meant, I could not be as aggresive (no APC nor Iron X).
At the end, topped w/ D156 and Opti Bond.
Paint:
D111 w/ 2 BM w/ grit guards
Electric Blower
Nano Skin Fine Grade Sponge
ONR as quick lube
Yello Foam Applicator w/ BFTPS under Door knobs/edges/etc
BFTPS on White LC CSS Pad - used on roof and very bottom of panels
WGTSR on White LC CSS Pad - used on all side panels/doors
Uber Compound on Orange LC CSS Pad - Hood and Trunk
Collinite 845 on Blue LC CSS Pad
D156
Overall, it was good. It came out pretty good. I did not get the percentage of correction that I would have liked, but it still came out very good.
Thanks guys for reading. (Pics to Follow)
