I did my trunk lid yesterday and my roof today. I used optimum compound, polish 2, and optimum finishing polish. I used MF cutting pad then white hex foam then the blue one to finish. Optimum doesn't dust up like megs product. I'd say I corrected it at least 95 percent. I need a flex, PC is taking way too long.

Looks excellent and yeah PC is on the slow kinda side but sometime its better to go nice and slow especially if its your pride possession but if you doing this as a profession then by all means bring out the flex

4 hours on one panel is when you need a rotary and some knitted wool!

Umm... I would have been ready before the third hour, regardless of my skill set.

I initially bought the PC, used it once and knew I needed more, bought a 3401 the next day. Based on your picture, I'm more than confident you are ready...

Rupes LHR 12E is a great machine too, I have it the 15 and the 75 E along with PC and the 12E is my favorite machine now. Works great and is really ergonomic.

frankprozzoly get the Flex 3401 VRG you will not be disappointed and you will never go to another DA that is not a forced rotation DA. The Flex 3401 VRG is the ONLY FORCED ROTATION DA. The only other machines more powerful than the Flex is a Rotary and that is not needed when you have the Flex.

I have the PC 7424 XP and use it sparingly.

I'll do some research on them. My car is a year old. I just get some minor scratches probably from not washing properly. But man it takes a long time to get them out

Four hours on one panel, did you have to wait for the paint to dry?

As I said the porter cable is slow. Just started getting into this about a month ago. I think it's coming along nicely. You ever watch the junkman. Took him a month to get a car perfect

uhh...that's crazy!

sorry to hear you endured that, lol.

honestly i barely touch my Makita anymore. and i don't have a Flex! i still use my pre-XP PC!!! i've found that with the Hyper twins and the right pads, i'm getting results that are pretty rapid but without over-correcting. it's somewhat slower but i'm fine with that because i can get right to the point before perfection or on top of it, without going past it and cutting away extra clear for no reason other than speed. plus, no matter HOW soft the paint, i feel the DA leaves the clearest pre-coating finish using the right pad and Hyper polish or Optimum Finish, depending on the paint.

i can't imagine a normal passenger vehicle roof that would take more than a fraction of the time you spent.
