This has probably been answered many times but why do most car towels have tags if they scratch? Even the ones sold here do as well. Is the scratching thing a myth ?

Guessing here, but it must be cheaper to use sew in tags. higher quality towels tend to have adhesive tags that come right off. If the question is why do they have any tags at all, don't know. Probably has something to do with import regulations and such.

I don't like tags on my mf towels, I use cuticle scissors and carefully cut them off...

lower end towels seem to have sewn in tags. I mainly use those for interior, so I just cut them close to the hem and don't worry about it. Better/higher gsm towels for paint typically have adhesive tags that peel right off.

-I've always been very surprised when I find some vendors
selling microfiber towels with manufacturers' tags sewn-in.

-We know, that they know:
that's a BIG NO NO!!!...in the Detailing World.

The Detailing World accounts for a tiny portion of total MF towel sales

If there are towels that are obviously Detailing specific with sewn in tags, that is poor coordination with the folks in Korea & China

Yep. The janitorial business is humongous compared to the automotive detailing business. Tags don't affect porcelain or Formica all that much!

The tags causing minor scratches is definitely not a myth (I learned the hard way years ago). You should remove them for sure.

Found a great company that sells mf with no tags. Great prices as well. Higher quality South Korea stuff.

I hate them as well. If you try to rip them off you end up tearing the edge stitching. If you cut them off with a scissors, you wind up with a piece left in to scratch your paint. I cut them out with an Exacto knife. The last two batches of towels I purchased states right on the tag "Remove before use" You would think they could make them easier to remove without damaging the towel.
