New old topic, cleaning matte black stripes

I tried a different detail spray on my GT and now have residue on my stripes. Can I use Isopropyl Alcohol and water to remove the product and get back to just the black and then put UTTG on them? Right now afraid to do anything to them for fear of making worse.
