I followed mike's tips on polishing glass and removing tiny pits from the windshield in attempt to undo what a salt truck on the highway did to my glass over the winter. I have thousands of little chips all over my window and I tried to polish them out with a rotary with carpro Rayon pads and carpro ceriglass with absolutely no luck. In fact, not only are the pits still there but I seem to have distorted the glass a bit with my buffing...

If anyone has any thoughts, at the very least on how to undo the distortion it would be greatly appreciated

I would be a little sketchy about polishing glass with a rotary just because of this issue. For full disclosure, I have zero experience with a rotary, but the fact they can instill holograms would make me think they could affect the optics of the glass.

I do know how to polish glass though. My guess is the glass can be easily repaired by re polishing with a DA using the same products. There is a technique how to polish glass correctly using the Car Pro stuff. If you haven't yet - look at one of the write ups here how to do it.

You can't remove pits from glass by polishing. The only way to remove pits is to replace the glass. They are impact craters - and are much deeper than defects.
