I see some posts that people have had difficulty with this combination but in general is it really a bad idea? What's the main issue using it vs the suggested 3.5 version?

Thanks,
Howard

When I had a PC I had both a 3" and 3.5" BP. That way I could use both 3" and 4" pads. 4" pads are great for spreading LSP's. They are also slightly more stable than 3" pads as far as wobbling goes.

Okay,I guess you aren't suggesting I try it. "When I had a PC", what are you using now?

Thanks,
Howard

No, on the contrary, I fully endorse it. I personally would go with the 3.5" BP and 4" pads, the you can always go with the 3" BP and 3" pads if you want to.

I have both the 3" and 4" backing plate for the PC7424XP. Works fine with both.
