So my wifes X5 was covered with winter and i decided to finally wash it yesterday. I used some traditional car wash soap with two buckets because i knew that my typical ONR routine woudln't remove the junk from the lower sides and front of the car. While scrubbing away with my pinnacle bug sponge i wondered to myself if it could be used with ONR?

If so it'd likely save me a ton of time but it's not something i want to try without knowing in advance as i'd imagine the bug sponge can seriously damage paint without the proper lubrication.

Anyone know? Can a Pinnacle Bug Sponge be used with ONR?

If that junk(bug, tar or etc) is fresh more than likely yes you could use ONR with bug sponge though if its more than a week old ONR and bug sponge won't do

My personal opinion: If my car had tar and crud on it, it's probably too dirty for a rinseless wash (I assume that is what you are talking about and not just using ONR as a detail spray and then using the BT sponge on the tough areas). If I were doing a RW and found some tar along the way, I would take a mental note and try to tackle it during my next 2BM.

The main thing I have found with the BT sponge is that you should use warm water and let it soak in that warm water and your car shampoo for about 10 minutes before using it. That really softens it up. It seems to stay rather hard in cold water. Can be kind of a pain, of course...my outside hose only gives me cold water.

I have thought about buying a small bucket to fill with some warm water for when I need to use the BT sponge. Maybe like a half gallon with 1/2 oz. of shampoo. Then just add what's in that smaller bucket back to my main wash bucket (don't do this unless you rinse the BT sponge in a separate bucket just like the 2BM, so you don't dump bug guts and stuff into the regular wash bucket). Anyone do it this way?

I have use ONR mixed at the wash ratio with the Bug Sponge to remove love bugs on my fathers Sienna. It worked fine, but I did let it soak for 10 minutes or more first.
