Tinted Windows Annoy Me

Police have told me that. Dark tints on front glass or windsheild give them a reason to stop a car if none other exists.

Yet they have every window 5% tint plus their windshield is tinted.

I believe in vegas the whole car can have limo tint. (Probably not the windshield) lol

I'd want limo tint all the way around, but don't want go get pulled over.

My 2006 ScionXB had limo tint all the way around :D

I got my Dodge windows tinted. Limo tint (Back windows) and according to them. I have a lifetime warranty. I just need to keep the receipt.

I've lived in both NJ and CA and had 'illegally' tinted windows in both states as neither allows any film to be applied to the front driver and passenger door windows. I had 20% all around on my car in NJ and 15% all around on my truck in CA. It was a night and day difference in terms of comfort while driving and when getting in to either vehicle after being parked in the sun for extended periods of time.

I never received a ticket in NJ over a period of 6 years that I drove that vehicle, but did get a verbal warning once. I received two tickets in CA over the course of 4 years before finally removing the tint. Either way, whenever I was pulled over by a LEO, windows went down, keys went on the dash, hands went on top of the wheel and I awaited to be told what was required.

I had nothing to hide, I just wanted the benefits that tint provides, i.e. heat and UV rejection to protect both me and the interior of my vehicle. The only con was that it did require a little more attention when driving at night as the tint did block a significant amount of ambient light. The fact that is improved the look of the vehicle was a secondary benefit.

Really???

Just stick with the oath they took and they'll be good to go, assuming gets you into a world of trouble. When I was younger and actually had hair it was about 2 inches past my collar and I had a leather jacket. Got pulled over for a headlight that just went out on my 73' Mustang and got pulled over, fine. Then they asked could they search my car and said "what are you lookikn' for", they said drugs. I was told I looked suspicious because I had long hair and wore a leather jacket....really! Don't drink or smoke anything so I flung the door open and said "you go right ahead and look for those drugs!", they found nothing and I was very upset, that was in 1990 and I will never forget it. So like I said, keep assuming because of longer hair, leather jackets and tinted windows, not only do they enforce the law but are JUDGE, JURY AND EXECUTIONER!!!

I would never grant them the open right to search. Mostly on principle but also if you have someone else in the car you have no idea what they might have on them and not tell you and you get busted for it.

^ don't know how accurate these are btw

but you guys can check out your state, you can even walk up to a Police officer and ask him what are the state laws. I've gone up to police officers to ask questions. They don't mind helping out from my experiences

While I may have limo tint. I am following CA law. The California Highway Patrol officer that inspected my vehicle, before I had to take my DMV drivers license test again this year told me the CA Tint laws when I asked him what's legal and illegal.

5% all around. 25% on windshield. :xyxthumbs::dblthumb2

It's not accurate for CA. While CA does list a percentage allowed, it also explicitly states you cannot apply ANY permanent film to either front window. When I had the CHP sign off on my last ticket he told me tha thu aren't out to ticket everyone and if you have light tint, they will most likely look the other way. If its dark, they will issue you a ticket. Mine were metered at 13%...way to dark.
