So I started buffing out all my swirls on my new black 2013 ram. I am using the Wolfgang twins with a porter cable da. After sing both products, I have successfully removed the swirls and applied some turtle wax black wax. Now I am having a oily waxy residue that won't come off. I tried washing with turtle wax rinseless, and wiping down with some detailing spray. But I still have this residue. It's making dust and stuff stick to my truck, and if you wipe your finger across it , it wipes off like wax and smears. Please help.

Did you wipe the car down with IPA after the polishing stages? Some polishes (eg. Menzerna, don't know about the others) leaves an oily layer if not worked long enough.

Hope you solve it!

My guess is it's the TW stuff. It's probably loaded with shoe polish like fillers. I would strip it off with a quality paint cleaner by hand and use a higher quality wax.

The tw is only on one side of the truck. The other side has meguairs gold. The spray detailed is Lucas speed wax. Should I clay bar it or something?

I have seen that the Wolfgang Finishing Glaze can take extra attention to make sure it is totally removed.

Wolfgang/AGO says it is OK to follow WGFG immediately with Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant. I have had good success with this combo.

Try using a IPA solution of about 10%. If you do a search in Mike's section there is a detailed article about how to mix one up using various Isopropyl alcohol concentrates. You can pick a bottle at an pharmacy for about a dollar.

If that doesn't work you can use a non-abbrasive paint cleaner but that means ordering it so it will take longer.

If you have some Mineral Spirits (MS)...
Put some on a soft MF-towel/applicator, and see if it will remove this oily residue
from an out-of-the-way "test spot" location.

Proceed to thoroughly re-wash this area, and any others,
that you use this MS-removal-method upon.
I suggest: One panel at a time.

And as mentioned:
Use an entirely different wax after all of this oily residue has been removed...
An even better choice would be to use Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant (WGDGPS) instead, IMO.

How do you guys feel about windex as a ISP. I read mike has used it in the past. I did a test panel and the windex removed the film. Question is, how safe it it to the paint.

Remove the Turkey Wax. You started off with top notch products and quickly dropped to the bottom of the barrel to finish it off.

It's likely safe on clear coat factory paint, but not great to use. I'm guessing you don't have Eraser? Honestly, at this point I would re-wash the car if it's been driven around, use a quality paint cleaner by hand to strip off TW, and then re-wax with a quality product.

I'm a bit confused as it was mentioned TW was only used on half the car? Is this residue on the whole car? No matter what it is, those steps should fix it if Windex fixed it without inducing paint damage.

^^^You used high quality polishes but finished with inferior protection. The biggest difference I have found between cheap OTC waxes and nicer alternatives is the ease of use!! Like others have said WDGPS would be and excellent choice. I have never seen any streaking, smearing from it. The durability and look is outstanding as well.

What should I use after the twins? I was thinking the forum favorite sealant, wax and spray, but not sure I want to spend $139. Any other alternatives.

If it's a money issue, you don't have to spend much. Go to the Harley shop and get some S100 Paste Wax for $20. Or even a Meg's or Mothers past wax. If you want to order from AG, people seem to like Max Wax.

I am thinking
10 oz. Klasse All-In-One
16.9 oz. Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze
2 Microfiber Detailing Cloths
2 Poly Foam Wax Applicators
2 Deluxe Microfiber Applicators
For $69

Then look for a high quality carnauba wax

if you want a great quality LSP and can usually get it over night from an auto parts store if they dont carry it,, 3M Performance finish. its very glossy, 20 bucks, synthetic, WOWO, buffs out awesome. after that is 3DHD POXY. best bet is Napa or Car Quest but most places carry 3M products.

Pick a Synthetic Sealant to apply which will last approximately 4-5 months. A Carnuba will likely only last 3-4 weeks pending temps and washings. Blackfire, Pinnacle, just some choices. That is your best bet. A Carnuba can be applied on top of a Sealant which will add to the gloss.

DO a IPA wipedown and then apply the sealant. You can spend less than 50 and get what you need for now. Only use microfiber to take off anything you put on the vehicle. You can apply the Sealant on 2 or 3 with the DA. Also, after 24hrs you can apply several more coats as it is layer able.

The turtle wax rinseless car wash seems to have a pretty good following here. Is that a issue?

So I decided to buy the klasse AIO and high gloss sealent. What is the best method to apply AIO?
