Exfoliate before shaving and use a pre-shave oil to help reduce the irritation. Also make sure to shave WITH the hair there, otherwise you get irritation and bumps.

Best blade hands down Gillette Fusion...be careful...they are sharp and light weight...amazing shave...I am an Art of the Shave guy, and their products with Fusion is unreal...I may have to check out the dollar club deal after this review

I like to get the blade soaked in hot water before and then use extremely hot water while shaving. Supposedly, the blades are thinner than a surgeons knife....

After watching this I use some of his techniques. I use a hot cloth first, then a cold cloth afterwards. I switched to Neutrogena Shaving Creme and use a Mach 3 razor. Sometimes I will apply bump patrol as well after shaving. I have reduced the razor bumps and irritation I would get significantly.

I always used to hack up or irritate my neck shaving.
I highly recommend an after shave product called Tend Skin. It is a liquid you put on a cotton wipe and apply to where you shaved. It drastically reduces in-grown hairs and irritability on the neck. I then follow with an after shave.

I like Nivea for men products, but for special occasions use my Clinique for men products. The Clinique pre shave scrub is incredible- best out there:dblthumb2:

I'll throw another one out there for safety razors. However, personally I use Feather blades over Wilkinson or any other brands because they are the sharpest blades you can get for a safety razor.

Feather blades are the best I have used for a safety razor.

Get yourself a nice badger hair brush and a shave soap and you are set for a very long time. Don't buy your brush from Art of Shaving as they are very overpriced though they do have quality products. There are many places online where you can get a good quality shave setup for very little money.

Since this is in no way detailing related I dont think there will be too much of an issue posting an external link but this is one of the best places I have found to order all of my shaving supplies, the Autogeek of the shaving world.

Italian Barber Online Shaving Supplies

My personal favorite is the shave soaps from the Razorock line.

On a daily basis I use my safety razor but every other week or so I take my time and pull out the straight razor.

Hey Flash!

Yeah, I took a hiatus for a little bit, but I'm back and will be just as active as before :)

I took a hiatus for a while too. When I came back it was a whole new crowd! Always good to see a familiar face/name

That guy is good! Would love to get a shave from that dude!

I have been using a 1948 gillette adjustable slim for a few years now.Amazon sells a combo pack of different blades.I get my soap at Walgreens.

I might have to try the dollar thing. My problem is I have never found anything that gives me a close shave. I have used all the number of blades they have came out with and even tried the old fashioned barber letting him use a razor and I still feel stubble afterward. So now I just shave and be fine with it. An 8 pack of hydro razors last me 6 months. No Neff to change if I can't tell the difference between a new one and an old one.

How often do you shave?

About one to two times a week.

Exfoliate before shaving and use a pre-shave oil to help reduce the irritation. Also make sure to shave WITH the hair there, otherwise you get irritation and bumps.

I often trim to reduce the length of the facial hair before. I should look into the pre-shave oil. I just use water before applying the shave gel/foam.

I'll look into it! Thank You!

i pulled the trigger and joined the dollar shave club...received my "Executive" razor and blades today (AFTER my morning shave)...figures right? Also got a sample of their shave butter...looking forward to my next shave and trying these blades. I am currently using Gillette Fusion, and these are half the cost. Now I'd like to find a pre shave oil that can compete with the Art of the Shave stuff. I made the switch to Prosaro Red shave cream, and love that...now just need to find a good oil that is cheaper but just as good as TAOTS stuff.

Have used a safety razor, brush and shaving soap the past four years. It has turned a necessity into a pleasant pastime. Will never go back to Fusion and goop in a can. Most of my purchases have been made to online specialized shaving retailers.

Anyone try the $9 option versus the Gillette fusion disposable razors? Price wise the dsc is the obvious winner but just curious if anyone has had experience with both

So do you find that the preshave oil makes any difference for you?

For me it would seem to gum up a cartridge razor and I would actually get a better shave without it. Now I only use a safety razor and a straight every now and then. Just a quality shave soap and a badger brush does the trick for me followed by some captains choice bay rum aftershave.

I'm using the $9 per month package now. I used the same blade fir over a week which is much better than what i was seeing with the fusion blades.

the first time i used an oil, i was hooked...for me, the pre shave oil is amazing...followed by a post shave balm...i too got the $9 blades and look forward to trying them, the fusions were getting expensive. saving money per month means more car stuff throughout the yearIm the MAN

Hey OP, I've got to thank you. This review is what finally made me order the DSC and I'm more than pleased.

The razors are the same high quality as the Gillettes as far as I can tell, but for a lower price, which is great.

The real amazing thing is that shave butter though! Never again do I have to worry about trying to find the best shaving cream for me, or the fact that they're white foaming creams that don't let you see! This one is goes on clear, lasts the entire shave, and even when you run the blade over the area again it's still lubricated for more passes! It feels fantastic and I can get a closer shave.

My skin has never looked better. Thanks again, I say if you're on the fence about ordering, please do but make sure you're getting the shave butter, that's the game changer!
