I make my wife touch the car with a plastic baggy on her hand so she gets what I've been striving for while I was outside. She still doesn't get it.

I actually do not park a mile away from everyone....
When I bought my VERY first new car I used to park way away from everyone... then about 2 weeks after I had my new car I came out of work and someone had keyed down the entire one side of it. Lesson learned.
So now it's park in a spot not right next to anyone, but still in with other cars. Never next to giant SUVs or minivans... these scream children to me. If I can, I find the end spot, so I can be as far over as possible from the other car. And end spots with as much curb around them are prime spots for me.
My husband, still, on occasion closes the door by grabbing the corner..... ###? The handle is right there!
Do you open a glass door at home by the glass? No! You use the handle!
I close my door with black plastic and rubber trim at the base of the window. If I had black plastic or chrome handles I would use them but mine are painted.
Conversely, IMHO;
The "Touchers" behavior appears to be teetering on the edge of OCD.

And speaking of detailing supplies. I keep a whole host of QD, Spray Wax, ONR, bottled water, toilet paper, and a dozen different towels in my trunk, along with one of those ultra lightweight (disposable) microfiber duster thingy's.
If everyone respected everyone else and their property, then there wouldn't be an issue and I'd park in the first spot.
But most people don't seem to care or are wrapped up in their own lives. They don't care if they themselves or their kid throws a door open and hits the car next to them. Maybe they do care, and it was an accident... it happens.
This is why I park in "strategic" spots. They are usually not convenient, and not usually close to the door. I'm just trying to take carelessness or human error out of the equation. You can't change someone else's behavior... only your own.
My husband used to get annoyed at me for taking too long to find "the right spot". Now he does it. HA!

I was leaving work the other night and one of my technicians was bringing home all these big boxes full of junk. I watched her sit them on a new Jeep's hood that just happened to be parked next to her. About 3 big dirty cardboard boxes full of junk sat on some poor strangers car hood.

When she came in the next day did you fire her?
