Optimum Opti-Bond Tire Gel... meh

I meant 2 parts product 1 part water.

at 1:1 the look is too dull for me, but straight out of the bottle is to glossy for me. So I've been messing with the dilution ratios to top my Ultima Tire and Trim.

Side Note: I tried DUB by Meguiars Tire Shine and while it did have a glossy view. IMO it has a nice, deep, rich appearance to it.

Ah gotcha. That sounds like it will be your ideal dilution from the sound of it. My neighbor did 2 coats of DUB shine on his truck and it was blinding. Too shiny for me but he sure likes it. I do 1 coat of PERL straight and it seems to deliver a nice sheen to my tires.

CarPro PERL 2014 version has been working well for me.

Meh... sure solvent based stuff lasts longer but personally I think being able to easily remove a tire dressing is actually a positive thing.

Opti bond and hyper dressing for the win!

Like many here, I too have Optimum Opti-Bond sitting on my shelf. I do freely admit, the tires look great when first applied but if rain hits it's mostly history.

CarPro PERL has really become my go to rubber product and it's durability is outstanding.

Wolfgang tire is better than the chemical guys products I used, I don't think it last as long as AG advertised. But then again in the rain or snow no water based product will, I do prefer water based over oil and I don't mind reapplying when needed.

This hits home really.

Who besides tuff shine users doesntt dress after every wash anyway?

Since like many of you, when I wash, and detail even my junker-mobile (love this car, it's my savior here in the desert) I of course never neglect to spend at least a little time on the wheels-tires.

Over the past few weeks, I tried a little experiment with Opti-Bond, and diluted it 1-1 in a spray bottle. Shake, and squirt!

It seems like it applies a lot easier, on all these goofy tires they make today with the thousands of little ribs. Less need to work to massage into the tire I've found.

My main priority is a product that won't harm the rubber, and I don't believe Opti-Bond will.

Perl is one product on a future order, if Bobby likes it, it's like "Mikey Likes It", it's sure to please! :-)

Maybe one day I'll try the Tuff Shine, and put it on something!

Maybe you're right about Endurance Gel, a tendency to go bonkers, slather it on, like more is better, and then pay the consequences. Maybe it should then be wiped after with some paper towels (and a nitrile glove cause this stuff is totally nasty on the hands!)

Cyprus, isn't that near Greece? Maybe this Perl is good drizzled on a great piece of Greek Bread? LOL

God knows what made me think of that, probably all the great Greek restaurants I used to eat at in Chicago when I lived there! :-)

Did they update the formula?

They did.

PERL : added special water based resin which improve much more durability life time, we expect now 4~5 months durability on plastics and rubbers with great hydrophobic effect.

i just applied some with HVLP gun 1:1 ration and it lasted better IMO.... I will say I have yet to find anything better than Zainos tire protectant on looks and durability and no sling.. Opt is a close 2nd

Didn't know they came out with a new version of Perl. Does the bottle state version 2 or has the bottle changed?

They did.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. I'll have to pick up a new bottle once I run out or perhaps after some comparison reviews.

I just want my tires to look black and not shiny, so Opti works for me. Those shiny tire days are long gone for me. I remember using that computer silicon stuff that slung all over the car and collected more dirt than... I have gotten older and wiser.

After it rains, I wash and reapply because, well, the tires and wheels, like the vehicle, are dirty and therefore, must be cleaned just like the vehicle each and every time it rains. Plus, I don't expect any of this stuff to last or look like the day I put it on, especially not after a rain storm, just as your car won't be clean after a rain storm. That would not be a wise thought. Keep expectations around 50% of the manufacturers hype and you will be happy about any product.

Just One Man's Opinion

I must try CarPro PERL. While I have so many bottles of tire "dressings", and each bottle seems to be impossible to use up, people talk about this stuff like it's the Second Coming.

.... And, on the 13th day, God created PERL.

It also has a nice green-apple type scent :dblthumb2:

I will say this though, some tires seem more receptive to tire dressings than others. We have an IS250 with some Yokohama's and they accept tire dressing very well, seems to stick and make the tires look amazing. I have some Continentals and the rubber on the sidewalls is very "smooth" you would call it and getting dressings to work into the tires is difficult and it never seems to last as long as on the Yoko's. I've also noticed Michelin Pilot Super Sports don't like to hold on to dressings for a lengthy amount of time either.

What is a good product to clean tires to get the brown out ? And mud

Well, I have been using DP tire gel and love it. Like many, after reading the reviews, i also ordered a bottle of the opti-bond. So when i am done with the DP, guess i'll draw my own findings on the opti-bond.....
