Dont use Aquawax as a drying aid... It will cloud your paint...

So I seen that someone said using DG Aquawax as a drying aid will eventually cloud your paint. Sure enough, they were right. I emailed DG today and this is what they said:

Using Aquawax once a week can caused a buildup and cause your paint to look dull after a while. If you want to use a weekly drying aid we recommend using 921, Fast Clean and Shine, which is a spray on and wipe off formula. Then you could still use Aquawax once a month without worrying about a buildup.

So with that being said, I see the 921 is where its at for a drying aid. Aquawax, once a month.

I then asked them what to do if you notice a build up. This is what they said:

If you are noticing a buildup just polish your vehicle with 105, Total Performance Polish and it should take it right off.

If AquaWax does not contain solvents that would remove previous applications, is it possible that layers could build up over time?

Some experts indicate that because of the solvents contained in Carnauba Waxes...they cannot be built up in layers. The function of a 2nd coat is simply to ensure complete coverage.
 
Good info but I wonder how many people have actually ever had this happen to them.

I know I top my car with a spray wax almost weekly (sometimes with aquawax but I use others as well), and I have never experienced any cloudiness.
 
Wow! Thanks for the information! I did a recent Post regarding comparing Optimum Spray Wax to Duragloss Aqua Wax. You have answered my question. Thank you!! I will stick and be happy with my OSW. I will be buying a gallon of it now.
 
using AW weekly is overkill and i tend to use it every other wash or so...
 
They said you can mix a 50/50 ratio of their 921 and AW and use that as a drying aid.. They said there would be no build up doing a 50/50... I said okay. lol

Perhaps some of those experts haven't used:
Beauty Shine's #502 Pink Carnauba Paste Wax.

It contains only carnauba-wax:
No "lesser" waxes. No synthetics. No blends.

BTW:
It's one of only a few perfect-Waxes that's been
formulated for "spit-shining"!! ☀️
Talk about some layering-it on thick!!

I have noticed something that looked funny. I wouldnt say cloudy but didnt look a deep as normal. I attributed that to the multiple ( 4-5 coats of waxes )... I dont know either way. But I know Im getting some of the 921 lol.

There are always 2 sides of every story. To the op if your going to quote a response how about quoting your questions so everyone can draw their own conclusions.

Aqua Wax has gone from high praises to "I'm not going to use and or don't use it" in just a few days, Really?

I have never had any " clouding" using AW. Altho I don't wash my personal vehicals every week, but when they do get washed I do use AW as a drying aid with no "clouding of the paint".

DG921 (fast clean and shine) is another great product from DG and one that if you use a quick detailer I would highly recomend trying it.

DG921 as a drying aide yep it works very well....but mixing with AW I'll wait from DG HQ's reponse myself.

Any product from DG works and very well, as do most other products if used while following the manufacturer's directions.

It's really about common sense folks.

The only way I'll stop using such a great product is when Duragloss stops making it!! :laughing:
 
Wax itself can yellow/discolor after a few months from UV and tend not to look great. I'm not making this up as something that sounds legit, I read it from one of the guys from Dodo Juice who posted it - I just can't recall where.

I have noticed this as well. That's why paint cleaners are so great. Because you can strip your wax and not have to worry about thinning your paint.
