Can this Product List/Budget be Beat?

Ok check it out now I swapped in DLUX as it can be used for wheels, trim, and plastic's (your pillars, and lights).

http://myaccount.autogeek.net/mod_registry/myRegistry.php

Pads TBH I have never used any of the ones AG carries I use B&S pads, so I will let some one else recommend those too you. I would suggest you get he 5" plate for sure though the pads will be cheaper and the PC will correct better with it.

Thanks looks very impressive. I was going with cg because simple aio order. I know there was overlap, but was simple. Then I came across all these other products

I understand there are tons of products out there. Truth is there are many that will provide great results. I hope that I provided you a little insight.

I tried pulling together a comparable list using AG's shop and here's what it came out to:

~$320
3x 5 Gallon Buckets @ Home Depot $10
1-3x Gamma Seal Lids $5-15
3x Grit Guard Inserts @ AGO $21

1x Meguiar's Ultimate Liquid Wax $20
1x Gal Optimum Power Clean $35
1x Gal CG Citrus Wash & Gloss $25
1x Gal Meguiar's Non-Acid Wheel Cleaner $20
1x 22oz UWW+ (Clay Lube, QD) $22
1x 500ml CarPro PERL $15
1x Gal Meguiar's D120 Glass Cleaner $20
1x Optimum Opti Clay $15
1x CG Bare Bones $10
1x Chenille Wash Mitt $10
6x Gold Plush 16"x16" MF Towel $30
1x Guzzler 20"x24" Waffle Weave $25
1x 8 oz M105 Ultra-Cut Compound $11
1x 8 oz M205 Ultra Finishing Polish $ 9

3x MF Applicator $12
3x Foam Applicator $ 5

+ So you get a LOT more product in general (shampoo, glass cleaner, dressing, clay lube/QD/WW, APC, wheel cleaner)
+ No repetitive stand alone QD product along with a clay lube and a WW product, instead replace it all with ONR or UWW+

- No polishing pads
- No carnauba based wax
- No glaze
- No 'wheel wax'

I personally think you can get a lot more bang for your buck should you choose to spend your money that way. Excluding their car washes, CG products have been less than stellar in my opinion.

A great deal of this comes down to personal preference but speaking only for myself I'm not a fan of Chemical Guys products or their marketing strategy. I think there are better performing products out there for less money especially if you jump on the periodic 15% - 20% off plus free shipping sales from sites like AG.
CarPro has already been mentioned and I think they are a good brand based on their products that I've tried so far. I think Optimum, SONAX, Duragloss and perhaps the PBMA house brands (Blackfire, Pinnacle and Wolfgang) are at least the equal of CG products in almost every category and (IMO) superior in many. I do think the CG glazes are good and if you really feel you need a glaze CG EZ Creme is reasonable choice but beyond that recommendation if it was my money I'd spend it on other lines.

Dooyaunastan- Thanks for the list! I really appreciate that. It helps narrow things down and get tips on products that could perform better.

Lost Highway- I agree with you. I have mostly always MEGS/Mothers. CG I found just googling and it was pretty much all there in a kit. Then further research I found AGO, and after seeing pics started to wonder what else was out there.

I have to disagree with you on the CG stuff. I buy their compounds by the gallon( their chemical guys cut 1, 2 & 3) and finish hologram free with my dewalt rotary. They run 30$ a gallon and are definitely worth a try....

Well CG just hit a 25% off for Memorial day. Does any one know if AG will do something similar. I know they just had a 20% day, but was still trying to check products out.

I'm sure AG will be running something for at least Monday if not starting Friday or Saturday.

Thanks, Im gonna be playing the wait game. The CG sale is 25% through tomorrow and drops to 20%. I hope AG rolls it out tomorrow or at least Saturday.

What do you all think of this list? The add expense is from the cannon which I would purchase anyway separate form the possible CG order.

I would still use Hyperdressing in place of both the 303 and the sonus, and I would get rid of the wheel specific wax and use your regular wax on them. Looks like a great start!!

Thanks, but will the hyperdress collect dust (interior and engine) and does it have decent longevity?

I used it on my own car quite a while ago (6-7 months) and it still looks good, low dust collection so IMO it does. Outside it wont last as long cause it is water based. You can dilute it up to 4:1 which is matte I like it at 2:1 or 3:1 personally and 3:1 is more my taste.

Thanks added to the list, Would optibond or tuff be better for tires then?

- Drop the wheel wax and just M21 on your wheels.

- Meg's #7 is designed for single stage paints and I'd wager your Taurus is clear coated. You won't be needing that.

- Are you using a PC7424(xp)? You may want to get a 5" backing plate and 5.5" pads. Mike Phillips has plenty of articles regarding why, but basically the PC7424 works better with the smaller pad and surface area. Here's a great 5.5" 6-pack offered at AG:
Lake Country 5 1/2 x 7/8 inch Beveled Edge Pads 6 Pack, foam pad kit, build a kit, buffing pads, curved edge pads
and your backing plate
lake country 5 inch backing plate, 5 inch backin plate, 5 inch hook and loop backing plate

- 303, Sonus Motor Kote, and Opti-Bond can all be replaced with a product like Meg's Tire & Trim Gel, Ultima Tire & Trim Guard Plus, Meg's Hyper Dressing, CarPro PERL. If you're trying to experiment with new products then ignore what I'm telling you, but you can keep tires, trim, and the engine bay down to one product.

- No reason in particular, but you may want to consider the new Mother's Professional APC, $17 a gallon, dilutable, seems like a helluva deal.
Mothers Professional All Purpose Cleaner

Besides that, I'd say it looks good, that wash wedge is something I've been meaning to try out.

You should be OK with those things. I know HD is expensive but it is a great all around dressing. Spray your wheels and walk away too! Its versatile as heck!
