So I narrowed it down to this from my previous thread. I started a new one so I can keep the debate between the two here. Also so I can record what I end up doing, with pictures of course. :Picture:

Anyway, here is my issue. I have a King Ranch truck that has both tan and black plastics. Both are faded but NO where near what I see as bad. Its still black, not gray at all... though the tan is faded and not as dark as once was. This is why Im searching for something else that is clear ( I cant use Solution finish, Black Wow etc )

What I wanted to know from the Veterans is about application/durability of the two aforementioned items. I read some reviews on them both the forum and the store. The store has bad and good, but I didnt come across anything bad via the forum.

Is one or the other harder to apply or is one more or less forgiving?

My cowl has a lot of corners and raised sections ( think deep impressions ). Can I use one of those foam staining brushes to get into all the crevices? Maybe get some makeup application wedges too?

You can certainly use Black Wow...it doesn't add any color. I would use UTTG or WETS since yours isn't badly faded. But between C4 and DLux, I would go with DLux, just because my C4 always crusts up in the bottle and gets more difficult to apply.

But the UTTG isn't as permanent, so why apply something that will only last 3mths when you can apply something that lasts 1-2 years? Honestly, am I missing something?

Dlux is good but its kind of a pain to apply with all the prep work that's involved. I think Swanicyouth did a head to head against C4 and Dlux was the clear winner in regards to durability.

I found those foam paint brushes made for a good applicator. Be careful not to get any on paint or mirrors or glass. Might be a good idea to tape off those areas cause it's a pain to remove afterwords.

One word, "Cost".

Thanks! The only prep I could see with Dlux would be the wipe with IPA or Prep-sol?

True, but UTTG would need to be applied every three months. Dlux once say 1.5 years. Less work...?

Again, Im not battling here. Just trying to see your POV.

Very true, but some won't pay the price and rather do it more often. You can get Meg's Ultimate Black OTC for 10 bucks and it does the job.

Guys, I just talked to Rick Vaal at Premium Finish Care ( owner ) and he said the new version of UTTG is now going to be charcoal colored.

So if you want the clear stuff, make sure you buy it up before its gone!

Yep! Since it's clear it'll work on all plastics and coated surfaces....

I was talking about the Megs! lol. I should have been more specific.

Meg's is a white gel and will dry clear.

Funny, I still have my initial bottle of C4, the one that didn't seem to work too well on a crusty 15 year old Tahoe Rear Bumper Step Pad, but it is still as liquid as the day it was delivered to me. (hated to just chuck a $64 bottle of C4 when the issues may have been "self induced")

And I used it a couple days ago on my Cargo Trailer's Plastic Trim. And so many months later, this stuff seemed to work better on the trailer, than it did on my truck.

The Cosmetic Applicators that came with it though I think lack. I'm thinking the Carpro Suede applicators are a better bet.

I believe you, but that really doesn't make any sense. Why would you take a product that can be used on any trim and make it so you can only use it on black? I'd love to hear some clarification on this.

EDIT: Is it possible you misunderstood him? I was just looking at the Premium Finish Care website, and on the "new and improved" page for UTTG, it says "Ultima sealants are all clear and have no color."

C4 will last a year+, but can be hard to recoat evenly.

I think this particular bottle is closer to two years old!

All my good detailing products reside in a spare bedroom, in a number of cardboard boxes (what a nightmare to access such at times), but still, neither cold, or heat damage them.

I understand , but email him and post what be says

But he did say that the new colored UTTG won't tint m tan plastic. Not sure how or why, but that's what Rick said. He isn't marketing it for wheels any longer as he is going to be bringing out a wheel sealant soon.
