Calling All Military Members!

Ex- royal engineers EOD officer and intelligence corps
1987 to 1997
Various postings around the world
Retired due to busting up my leg and being given my medical discharge

First of all, Thank you all for your service to all those who had served.

I too am one of those. I spent my carrer in the USAF, although we were considered the weekend warriors (ANG) Air National Guard. For those of you who may not know, you are basically on call 24/7/365, you are state activated and can go anywhere the military goes. I was an AGE Mechanic, so shout out to fellow AGE Ranger. I was with the 180th Fighter Wing, Toldeo OH for some 22 years when I finaly retired, could not take the military/civillian lifestyle any more with all the deployments to the sandbox.. it gets old leaving your family and full time civillian jobs behind. I would not have traded my time for anything. I had worked with and met with a great bunch of guys.

Go DINSTAAR! AGE Ranger

Nothing but respect for the Reserve Components - particularly senior leaders. I don't know how the Company Commanders\1SGs do it. The ridiculous amount of work we have on the active duty side, but transferred to being on top of a regular job... Oof.

We do it all at home late into the night after we get off work . The tax payer gets WAY more than their money's worth as very little of that time is ever paid.

91B(63B when I initially enlisted) Light Wheel Vehicle Mechanic then changed my MOS to 27D Paralegal Specialist
Served with the 2nd Brigade 1st Infantry Division in Iraq from 2008-2009

For my Grandfather's (Navy and Air Force) and my brother's (both Army) who served before me and my little brother currently serving in the Army, respect and appreciation to all members of the armed forces both past and present.

Also, from a veterans point of view, thank you to everyone who supports us. Every time I have someone say to me "Thank you for your service," I always reply "Thank you for your support." Knowing that a total stranger appreciates the sacrifices we make means a lot. To me, it means more than any medal, coin, or certificate I received while I served.

I was one of those on deck for this shot......

Small world !!

Woah... LOL. I know you... Just came back on here after a year or two to ask about some clay bars and I see this thread. What a small world lol.

Hey this thread is really turning out GREAT here guys!
Its so good to see so many military members here and look what a small world it is, this member Buddiiee even knew who I was from Iraq! Sent you a PM reply Buddiiee so be sure to check it.

I was probably known as a #### there since we fell under Army command and they do things a bit different for sure! Like call their First Sergeant a "Top" which in the Corps is strictly forbidden as all Marines here know! It drove me so nuts I had to stop fighting everyone who called me that and just gave up! LMAO!

Keep the posts coming guys! If any of you need military discount hook ups on wheels and tires for ANY vehicle shoot me (no pun) a PM and I will steer you in right direction to a VERY good friend of mine who will surely take care of you all.

Thanks to EVERYONE for your service and also a huge thank you to those non-military guys here who posted their kind comments too, that truly means a lot to me and I am sure us all. :dblthumb2:

Here's a couple more pics for ya all. :)

Is that your retirement shadowbox Gunny? I don't think I've ever seen one like that, it's really cool!

Sure is man!
I NEVER saw anything like that in my career either and was shocked when they dragged it out during my retirement party too! The cammies are actually the ones I wore in Iraq and they bought a new set of blues just for the shadowbox, along with all new polished medals and ribbons too!
Needless to say its quite a sight to see hanging on my wall. THANK YOU!!

I keep getting posted places where there are Marines everywhere - first Fort Sill, OK and now Fort Gordon, GA. The Marine barracks is right next to my barracks, and I constantly use the Marines as examples for my Soldiers of proper D&C, customs and courtesies, and how to sound the hell off...

After waiting all these years, I finally got my shadow box made for my office...

Very cool thread indeed!

US Army....active 1983-1987 63D (self propelled artillery mechanic)big guns M110 howitzers

received a ARCOM in 1988 for field expediency.....while in Honduras.

Wicked !!!

That shadow box is wicked cool!

Lmfao!
First of all thanks for the compliment my friend!
Secondly, I laughed because of the word "wicked cool" you used which is TOTALLY an East Coast Mass, CT, jersey type word I great up with in every conversation and multiple times in a sentence as well-lol. Brings back great memories and just wanted to thank you for making me laugh and smile, along with the nice comment on the shadow box! :)

Semper Fidelis everyone!

Gunny out..........

Ps. I inquired with Meghan the administrator about one of my previous questions. Im sure many of you who are on other forums know what I mean by having those cool "Thank You" or "Like" buttons someone can hit if they like or agree with a post thats made to give props out to the member who wrote it. She stated that unfortunately they dont have the ability to add something like this to this forum but that you can use the "rate" button to show how you like a thread, not the particular post from someone. I guess this just makes one write a small reply on anything?
Thought id pass that one folks. That is it, have a super weekend and get some nice detailing done out there if your weather permits!
