Well we got an initial report back from the oncologist...

Cells have grown, so a med change is a must.
We have an appt Saturday to go over things with the doctor in great detail.

Not the best news as we have to get more aggressive with treatment, but could be worse news.

I will update more when we speak to the doc Saturday.

Update:

Just met with the oncologist...

He confirmed the cells were "large" which usually indicates ALL vs CLL.
But he also said it could be a false positive under the microscope AND he's not showing signs of being "sick" which is a good sign.

Moving forward:
Sidney got a shot of Lymphoma specific chemo at the office.
We were sent home with some aggressive meds to be given over the next 3 days as well as tripling the Prednisone dose.

We get blood drawn in a week to see how that went. If it went in a good direction we give him another dose of different chemo for one day.

Blood drawn again a week from then.
Those results will ultimately tell us where we are at moving forward, HOPEFULLY for the long run.

Fingers crossed this works and we can maintain a good quality of life for a while longer.
Thx gang!

Hope for the best possible outcome for Sidney!

Fingers crossed and holding my thumbs.

Regards Tony

We never stop thinking of you guys, Monica.

All the best, kid!!

Well, Sidney goes in to the vet tomorrow...

It's a follow up visit, but he's not doing well.

Over the last 2 weeks he's gone down hill...
He seems to be having a little bit of breathing issues.
He has lost weight.
We've also found several lumps on his neck and ear.
He's been exceptionally picky eating as well.

To be honest I don't think news tomorrow will be good.
I think at this point we are on borrowed time.

I'm so sorry to hear this recent news on Sidney. Sending prayers to you and your family.

Hoping for the best.

Thank you all for the kind words...

Unfortunately it's what we thought... the Leukemia has changed to Acute which is untreatable.
We were given a "feel better" med and are supposed to call the doctor on Friday on how's he's doing.

Sadly if he's the same or worse we need to prepare to make last arrangements for him.

I'm very sorry to hear this Monica, thoughts and prayers to you guys as us pet owners love our pets.

Sad to hear that it's so bad Monica. They are real family members and it's so hard to loose them. Do what's best for Sidney which you have already done.

Regards Tony

Sorry for the diagnosis., losing a family member is hard. I feel like in their end dogs sense how much we hurt and try to stay strong for us because in reality we need them as much or more than they need us.

Thought and prayers your way.....

I believe this 100% which is what makes decisions so difficult.

Thank you all again for the kind thoughts and prayers.
Sidney is still with us at the moment but I don't know if he will be by end of the week.
For now we are trying to give him lots of love and treats.
