I have both the 6" and 3" Griot's Garage D/A buffers and use them all the time when waxing. I noticed some people said it was difficult to get the wax onto the pad. For paste waxes, I use a butter spatula to spread the wax onto the pad. It works great.
 
Machine (3" GG polisher) nearly every time - unless doing it late night in the garage and don't want to disturb the fam or neighbors with the noise.
 
Last weekend I did blackfire wet diamond sealant with my PC and red finishing pad and then hand applied the midnight sun ivory carnauba over top :)
 
Well,I started with hands,then I used machine ,and I understood I never go back. I was afraid to use the big guns and made a order for DA PC ,now I upgraded to Flex 3401, and I had I chance to try the Rupies Big Foot,now I got that too,it's so balanced and awesome machine !!! Amazing !!!

Griots cordless when applying wax or sealant. Polishing / correcting will be with my Flex....
 
Old School here.....nothing like a anal retentive hand laid final finish...
 
Machine is faster and leaves a much better finished product that a hand application could never acheive...my 2 cents...
 
Griot's 3" or 6" for wax, Flex for correction.

I always apply liquid waxes or AIO's by machine. I will top with Paste Glaz or Souveran by hand though

Agreed...switched over last year.

I find with the new LSP's consistencies and the fact that a thin coat really is better, machining gets you there just right.
 
I started to wax my car this morning by hand with Collinite 915. Two wipes in I thought why am I doing this by hand? Switched to the DA and finished in no time.

In my review of the responses I only see one which mentions the removal of the wax by machine. Do others use the machine for removal as well? I would assume so as it would negate some of the time saving but just was curious how people do the removal process. Apply with fine buffing/polishing pad and then remove with clean fine buffing/polishing pad?
